Happy 50th Chapter!

Aphmau

"Aphmau." My mother walked into my room, meeting my eyes. "We're leaving."

"Woah, woah, woah! What?!" I shook my head, shutting my conversation with Garroth I was having over text.

"Just for the summer. Dad found a job that requires him to travel, and--"

"N-no! I can't leave!" I jumped up, tears forming in my eyes. "Is this a joke?! What about Garroth? What about Katelyn?! I can't just leave them!"

"Honey, please. Dad needs this job." She lowered her voice.

"And you don't think I need school?! You don't think I need Garroth? You don't think I need my friends?!" I whispered, wiping a stray tear.

"We are leaving in a week from Saturday, Aphie. There's nothing I can do."

And with that, she shut the door.

Friday
Day before Aphmau Leaves

"Happy last day of college!" I looked over to see Garroth having a goofy smile on his face. "No more school for two months!"

The whole 'leaving' thing still had me in a bad mood, so I just brushed him off.

"Hey." He frowned. "Don't be like that."

   "Be like what?" I retorted.

   "..That."

"I'm not feeling the best, okay?" I said, my voice cracking. Tears formed in my eyes.

"Oh, baby, what's wrong?" He whispered, sitting down on my bed. "Come on. Be happy. We can get breadsticks if you want."

I wiped a stray tear falling down my face, then I slammed my book closed.

  "I just don't feel good."

"Are you still sad?" He frowned. "You've been sad this entire day. Can you please tell me why?"

"Then you'll be sad, too." I whispered, more tears rushing down my face. "I-I don't want you to be sad."

"I'm already sad enough," he replied. "Seeing you like this."

   "Garroth, I just can't--"

"Aphmau, please. I can't stand this."

   "F-fine," I whispered. "I-I-I'm.."

I'm leaving!

"Just girly things. Moody. I want the breadsticks. Yum."

He broke out into an awkward smile, his cheeks painted red. "O-okay. Let's go!"

Baka, baka, baka! Why didn't you tell him?!

I couldn't! It would break his poor, beautiful heart!
