Aphmau

Today, it was the day that we made our speeches in Literature class.

Our speech had to be about our year, and the people who affected it, seeing as it was the end of the year.

"Alright, first up is Garroth." The teacher called. "And remember; this is being taped. Don't misbehave."

"Go get em', Tiger." I winked at him. He smiled, playfully rolling my eyes at me before standing up and walking to the front of the room.

He took a breath before reading.

"December 31st; the last day of the year.

It's been a crazy year. I've met new people, new friends, discovered new things, and most importantly," He paused, his eyes looking up to meet mine. "I've finally fallen in love."

Choruses of 'aww' and 'so cute!' flew around the room.

I felt my smile reach my ears. I felt eyes and smiles burning into me from everyone around me.

Garroth didn't even need to look at the paper to continue.

"I want to thank everyone who made me who I am this year. I want to thank my family, friends, and my beautiful girlfriend, Aphmau."

I felt tears well up in my eyes, and I laughed. I saw Zoey on the brink of crying, too.

"I also want to thank my wonderful step-sister, Zoey Yggdrasil. She has put up with me throughout this whole long year. And plus, she's lucky. She gets the honor of being my step-sister."

The class laughed slightly.

He smiled. "And I want to say that I'm sorry for everything I've ever done or said. I really mean it.

This year has been rough. Things have happened to my best friend, my family, and my girlfriend." He swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. "And I'm grateful that they're all doing okay at this moment in time.

Lastly, I want to say something more about Aphmau here." His eyes met mine again. "She's been through everything with me for about five months now, and every second I've fallen deeper in love with her."

I think my whole image in love has changed now, because Aphmau has shown me that love can come just as easily as hate can." He paused. "And hell, do I love her."

I didn't even notice the tears falling down my face until now.

"In conclusion, my life this year has been confusing. I've lost so much, but I've gained way more." He smiled slightly at me. "I've gained the most beautiful girl on Earth, a complete family, and a sister. Thank you."

The whole class was silent, looking at me as more tears slid down my face.

I began clapping, wiping my tears with the back of my hand.

Everyone followed suit.

He smiled, walking back to his seat next to me.
