Chapter 13

Sorry for the late update! School is ending next week so finals are next week. I've also been a little stressed on things so updates were slower.

"Haise, it's been two weeks. Chiaki's fever keeps acting up and he keeps saying his back hurts. We've already gone to the doctors but they say it's just the process of growing." Your eyebrows furrowed in sadness as you looked down at your hands and played with your fingers. "I don't know what to do."

Haise grabbed your hand and caressed the back of your hand with his thumb as he gave you a very small smile. "The solution will come soon, just be the mother you are to him. I'll come by and help you too."

"You're doing too much for me Haise."

"I enjoy helping you though, I'll come by." Haise stood up and kissed your forehead. "See you soon." You gave him a smile as you watched him leave the warm cafe.

Hinami was at home watching Izuki and Chiaki while you met up with Haise at the small cafe. You looked out the window and at the people enjoying their day as you held your cup of coffee in your hands.

*Ring Ring*

Turning around to look at the door, your heart started beating fast as you saw the familiar white haired man. You wanted to storm out of the cafe, but if you wanted him to leave you, you were going to have to talk to him.

Kaneki noticed you right away and walked toward you, sitting in the spot that Haise had occupied a few minutes earlier. You tapped your fingernails on your cup as you looked down at the bitter drink.

"Kaneki, let's talk.."

Kaneki's eyes widened as he slowly nodded, a bit confused but happy, with your sudden change toward him. "Okay, I'm all ears."

You gave him a look but let out a deep breath before giving him your feelings. "I honestly do not want to talk to you, I have no reason to be talking to you. I want nothing to do with you, but you just can't let me go can you? I've let you go already, when you left me. Remember that?"

"It's because I-"

"But I'll let you have this one time to talk to me, I want you to say everything so I no longer have to see you." You cut Kaneki off as he pursed his lips and nodded.

"I just want to tell you I'm sorry, for leaving you alone and leaving you to watch Izuki and Chiaki by yourself." Kaneki responded as he looked at you. You averted your eyes away from his glance, taking a sip of your coffee. "I want to be a family again."

Your eyes widened as you looked back at him, shocked that he wanted to be a family again. Shaking your head you looked at him, "I can't let you back into the family after what you've done. I don't hate you, I'm glad we got to talk but it's going to take more than just a sorry."

Kaneki clenched his teeth as he listened to your words. "Plus," You looked at him and he looked at you. "I have Haise now."

"But I can get you back! I'll win your heart back." For the first time in forever, your heart fluttered because of Kaneki. You scoffed at him and gave him a sly smile. "We'll see."

"So, Kaneki's trying to win you back now?" Haise repeated as you nodded and scooped some (favorite ice cream) ice cream into your mouth."Yeah, basically." Haise nodded and sat back on the couch beside you, glancing down at you.

"What?" You ask as you looked up at him., before your lips curved into a big smile. "Are you jealous?" Haise's eyebrow twitched as he held his chin. "I am not jealous."

"Haise, I can see through you right now." You laugh as you placed your ice cream away on the coffee table. "It's okay because you're way above Kaneki. And I hope to keep it that way."

Haise gave you a smile and turned to kiss your forehead. "Thanks, me too."
