Chapter 41

It was late at night, everybody had gone to bed and you were the only one left to get to bed. You had already finished with your daily household cleaning, no dirty dishes left in the sink, Izuki and Chiaki had clean clothes, and you finally had the time to relax. Unlocking the door to the small balcony, you stepped outside with a blanket and a cup of tea as you sat down in one of the chairs. Tokyo was quite beautiful at night.

Snuggling into your soft and warm blanket, you sighed happily as the warm cup in your hands helped the warmth back into your body. It was a fairly quiet night, stars twinkling loudly in the midnight sky.

"What brings you here?" You say quietly with a soft smile before you turn to see Kaneki standing beside you on the balcony. Kaneki's face softens and he walks towards you with a sigh, "You can still sense me huh?" He jokes as you let out a smile chuckle. "One of my talents,"

"Take a seat," You gesture towards the empty seat beside you before taking another sip of tea. Kaneki nods and takes the seat beside you as you unwrap the blanket around yourself and use it to cover your legs and his. "Oh, thank you." You respond with a hum, continuing your gaze at the bright city lights in the distance.

"I got your flowers, they're quite lovely." Looking over at Kaneki, he was gazing over the city as well; his white hair flowing gently in the wind. "I also got your note," Kaneki's grey eyes slowly made their way to yours and the way he looked at you sent shivers down your spine.

"Did you think about it?" He asks and you sigh, "I can't, I'm moving in with Haise. Izuki and Chiaki are looking forward to it as well." You pull the blanket higher up your leg, "Don't be selfish Kaneki. Haise and I are dating now, it's bound to happen sometime soon."

"But, I don't want you to go.." Kaneki confesses as he looks down at his hands. Glancing over at him, your shoulders drop with a breath. Standing up, you walk over to him and sit besides him in the chair, head resting on his shoulder. "You can't be selfish Kaneki." You close your eyes and let yourself sleep against him, his warmth and scent helping you relax and fall asleep faster.

"I want to be selfish," Kaneki responds as he leans against you, head over yours. "I want to keep you all to myself,"

Tossing and turning, you snuggled into the warm and comfortable bed beneath you. The warm sunlight fitting your face as you hugged the pillow beside you. "Kaneki!" Sitting up, you look around for Kaneki only to find yourself in your bedroom alone. "Was it just a dream?"

Stretching, you reach over to grab your phone but instead you found the blanket you shared with him and a small flower on top. "So it wasn't a dream."

*Ding Dong*

"Coming!" Jumping out of the bed, you threw on a large sweater before running to open the door. As you unlock and open the door, your smile drops at the sight of Kaneki in front of you. "What are you doing here?"

"May I come in?" He asks politely as you facepalm with a dramatic sigh, "Um sure, come in." You watch as Kaneki enters your house, taking a seat on the couch as he looks around happily. "Mommy! Mommy! Izuki and I finished brushing our teeth!" Chiaki chirps as he runs towards you in the living room. He jumps around happily until he finally notices Kaneki on the couch.

Quieting down, Chiaki runs behind your legs, holding onto them tightly as he peeks over at Kaneki from time to time. Your hand reaches down to brush his black hair to the side as he holds you tighter. Izuki walks into the living room and notices Kaneki also, running behind your legs as well.

"Mommy, isn't that daddy?" Chiaki whispers as he pulls on your large sweater. Looking back at Kaneki, he jumps when Kaneki sends a wave towards his direction. You laugh as you feel him grip onto your legs as he gives you a scared frown.

"Be nice boys, go introduce yourselves." You say as you gently push them towards Kaneki. Izuki walks closer towards Kaneki, Chiaki following close behind. Chiaki hides behind Izuki, the two looking up at the stranger.

"My name is Izuki and my little brother is Chiaki. Nice to meet you." Izuki says as he gives Chiaki a small push on the back. "N-Nice to meet you!" Chiaki bows politely before standing back up and scooting behind Izuki.

"Nice to meet you too," Kaneki starts, but a small voice interrupts him, "Are you our dad?" Chiaki questions; Kaneki's eyes widens as he looks at the small figure in front of him. "Mhm, I'm your dad." Your brows arch as you watch the scene in front of you. You knew Chiaki and Izuki are upset about Kaneki abandoning them, you didn't want them meeting like this, but is was going to happen sooner or later.

"Did you guys want to come live with me? Mommy can come too of course." Chiaki and Izuki look at each other hesitantly before Izuki answers, "We're going to move and live with Sasaki-san so we can't live with you."

"I really like Sasaki-san! He's so fun, right Izuki?" Chiaki says as he looks up at his brother; Izuki silently nods in response.

Kaneki frowns internally, jealous because his own kids didn't want to live with him. 'I won't give up on you three, I'll get my family back.'
