Simon's POV
After confronting Vik about his not-so-subtle feelings for Sophie, Simon retreated back to his room. Josh had asked if he wanted to join him and Ethan in a game of 'Golf with Friends' before he left to take Sophie home, so now instead of going to sleep like he so wanted to, he had to record with them. He dragged his feet along the carpet floor, throwing his things into a pile beside his bed before finally flopping down into his chair, which creaked slightly under his weight. For some reason, he couldn't get the idea of Vik and Sophie together out of his head. No matter what he did to distract himself, the thought remained. His abstraction must have been noticeable because once they had finished the video and Josh had left their skype call, Ethan brought it up.
'What's up with you, you seem, I don't know, less Simony today.' He asked tentatively. Simon wasn't one to talk about his feelings very often, but Ethan always managed to drag whatever was bothering him out, despite his efforts to evade him. He knew he wouldn't stop asking, so instead he decided to entertain Ethan's request.
'Why is it so damn hard to get a girlfriend these days?' He said quietly, ignoring the actual question. Ethan laughed at his query. 'Simon, you do realise this is me you're asking right?' Simon cocked his head to one side, considering his point. 'Maybe we're better off asking Josh for some advice.' Ethan replied. 'Or Vik' Simon said, somewhat bitterly.
'What do you mean Vik?' Ethan asked, trying not to sound too curious. Simon shook his head at his friends eagerness and went on to explain what was going on between Vik and Sophie. 'Oh shit.' Ethan said. 'Man like Vikkstar.' Simon scowled.
'You don't like her do you?' Ethan suddenly asked, surprising him. 'No. Well I like her, just friends though. Only known her a day.' Simon explained.
'Didn't stop Vik.' Ethan laughed again. When Simon didn't reply, Ethan returned to Simon's original question, bringing the subject off Vik and Sophie.
'Yeah, I have absolutely no idea man. Honestly though, it's actually so hard for people like us to have normal social lives outside of YouTube. It's gotten to the point where I even can't remember the last time I spoke to someone who wasn't a YouTuber.' Simon laughed at that.
'Don't forget about the till woman at Tesco's, there's always her.' He teased.
'Oi!' Ethan shouted, making Simon wince as the sound hit his ears. 'Oh no, I wouldn't pull her even if I was the last man on earth.' Ethan chuckled. Simon frowned.
'Why not? She that good?' He asked.
'Nah, she's old enough to be my fucking grandma mate, fuck that shit.' He giggled at himself. Simon pinched the bridge of his nose, as if it would draw out the thought from his mind. Still, he realised, Ethan always managed to make him feel better. If only because he laughed so much Simon ended up laughing himself.
'Anyway, I got a load of videos to edit before I go bed. Laters brah.' Simon ended the call, and loaded up his editing program. He checked the time. 2:54am. Guess I can say goodbye to those 8 hours sleep. Again... He shook his head and began editing the first video that needed to go out. Once he was done, and it was rendering, he got up and headed downstairs to get a drink. As he walked by Vik's room, he heard him laughing. Probably recording with the Pack, Simon concluded. He started down the stairs, and was nearly at the bottom when he heard a door open. He looked up and saw that it was Vik's door that had opened, his soft footsteps heading towards the top of the stairs. He was still speaking, although more quietly, as though he didn't want to wake anyone up. Simon rushed down the rest of the stairs and slipped behind the staircase. The downstairs lights weren't on, so he was certain he wouldn't be seen as long as he didn't move.
