Simon's POV
Simon nodded at Tobi, pretending he was paying attention to what his friend was saying. Instead, he was thinking about Vik and Sophie, who had mysteriously slipped away from the group on the way back inside. Impatient, Josh got up and made his way towards the door to go find them. 'Josh, I wouldn't.' Simon warned him. Josh turned towards him, raising his eyebrow in curiosity.
'Why? Do you know something I don't?' He replied.
'I know a lot of things you don't Josh. Honestly, just wait for a bit, they'll be back soon.' Josh remained unconvinced, his face twisting into a frown at Simon's flippant remark. 'Well soon ain't soon enough. We've got so little time to get these videos done and they're taking time-outs left, right and centre. You're the one who suggested this whole thing anyway, so whatever it is, it can wait.' With that, he stormed off towards the garden.
A worried expression settled onto Simon's face as he watched him go. Shaking his head, he returned to his conversation with Tobi, this time trying to engage properly. Unfortunately for him, Tobi wanted to change the subject. 'I take it you know what's going on out there? With Vik and Sophie.' Tobi's question surprised him. He eyed him warily as he replied. 'Somewhat. What do you know about it?' He countered. Tobi eyed him back before relenting. 'Vik told me not to tell anyone but I guess you know, right? That he likes her?' Simon relaxed slightly.
'Yeah, he told me yesterday. JJ knows as well, but only because he was gonna try something, obviously not knowing that Vik beat him to it.' Tobi tilted his head back in understanding.
'Riight. Do you reckon anything will actually happen then? Does she like him back?' The question had been prodding at Simon since his encounter with Vik on the stairs the previous day. He still didn't have an answer. 'I honestly don't know. I hope she does, for his sake. He's getting in real deep in so little time. I'm worried what will happen if she does reject him.' Tobi nodded.
'Same. I just-'
His words were cut off by the reappearance of Josh, who looked even more pissed off than when he'd left. 'So?' Simon asked him casually.
'Be there in a minute, she said. Looked like they were having a pretty serious conversation... What could they possibly have to talk about so privately given the fact they've known each other for all of two days.' He shook his head, muttering to himself. Simon exchanged a look with Tobi, who raised his eyebrow at him in question. He shrugged his shoulders in reply, genuinely not knowing what they could be talking about. 'He'll tell us later.' He added. Not even a minute later, Sophie came bounding back into the room, a wide smile on her face. She plonked herself in between Simon and Tobi on the sofa and crossed her legs underneath her. 'So what'd I miss?'
The two of them sat either side of her remained quiet. Luckily for them, Ethan heard her question and took it upon himself to answer. 'Nothing much, just been chatting, waiting for you and Vik to come back from whatever you were doing outside.' His tone was suggestive and she gave him a warning look. 'We were just talking, Ethan, Jesus. What's it to you, anyway? I can talk to whomever I want thank you very much.' Ethan simply laughed off her reprimand and went back to his phone.
'Alright, can we get on then. We've got four videos left and its already 4pm. I'll do mine now since I've got it all set up already.' Josh reminded them. Everyone agreed and they got up, just as Vik entered the room. Simon watched the smile on Sophie's face falter slightly as she met his eye. Vik didn't say a word to her, but walked straight past her to stand by Ethan. If it had been possible, he was sure he would have heard her heart breaking just then.
