Vik's POV

Vik stood in the kitchen, watching Sophie carefully as he expressed his concern about her brother. She smiled at him, saying something non-committal. He tried to smile back, but it's difficult when all you can think about is the danger you're putting the girl you like in just by spending time with her. He had long since accepted that he had feelings for Sophie. The problem was he didn't know how to act on them. She confused him; one minute being happy and seemingly reciprocal of his feelings, the next being distant and almost saddened by his presence. For the life of him, he couldn't work out where they stood with each other.

Of course, it didn't help him at all when seconds later, she kissed him. Only on the cheek, but the brief contact of her lips on his skin was enough to set his whole body on fire. The urge to pull her to him as she walked away and kiss her until she forgot all the bad things that had happened to her, most of which he didn't even know about yet, burned within him. Somehow, he stopped himself, planting his feet to the floor. 'Thank you.' She'd said before she left, following Josh into the living room. What the hell does that mean? The question flew around his head along with the many others he had, all somehow involving her.

Vik considered the past few days since he'd met Sophie as he stumbled out of the kitchen and upstairs to his room. While yes, it had only been a few days, he felt like he'd had a lifetime's worth of experiences all because the universe had decided to throw her into his life. More times than he'd care to admit, he found himself thinking of how she had changed his perspective on so many things, shown him that there was more than one way to do something and that always, you had a choice. People just tended to choose the one that hurt the least. Then he began to wonder if the unmistakeable spark he felt between them was simply down to the fact that despite her knowing so much about him, he knew very little about her in comparison. She was a mystery, with every new piece of information he learned about her making him want to know more. She was like a book with a cliff-hanger at the end of every sentence.

Following this train of thought, he felt his doubt for her feelings towards him grow. He recalled how she was with Simon; friendly and teasing, a deadly combination. He began to wonder if she had feelings for him instead. Then why would she tell him all these things about her brother and not him? Maybe she's told Simon and just not told me about it... He argued with himself as he entered his room, momentarily forgetting why he needed to be there. Just as he turned to leave, his eyes caught the white glow of his monitor screen and he remembered. Walking over, he saw that his videos had finished rendering and he quickly started the upload of the first one onto his main channel.

Satisfied that he had done everything he needed to do upstairs, he left his room, detouring to the bathroom briefly. Just before leaving, he stared at his reflection in the mirror. Lines of worry were faintly visible and the skin around his eyes had begun to turn a deep purple. He splashed some cold water on his face, hoping it would make him feel and look more awake. It didn't help much and he dried the water off with a towel before walking back down the stairs towards the living room. He could hear their laughter as soon as he reached the hallway, along with Sophie's protests to JJ, who was undoubtedly doing something inappropriate. As he neared the room, her voice disappeared. He walked in to see all the guys crowding round her as she sat against the wall with her head between her knees.

He rushed over, panic rising in his chest. He nudged Simon and Tobi who were crouched in front of her, asking her what was wrong and they let him squeeze between them so he was directly in front of her. He reached out and touched her arm, and immediately her head shot up. The fear in her eyes seemed to go straight through him, piercing his soul. That's when he knew. He shot up and ran from the room, ignoring the questioning looks from his friends. Heading towards the kitchen, he searched for what he needed; Sophie's hoodie. Spotting it on the counter, he rushed over and emptied the pockets until eventually he found her inhaler. Practically sprinting back to the living room, he shoved Harry out of the way and pushed the blue plastic into her hands, lifting her head so he could see her face.
