Sophie's POV
She barely noticed JJ's greeting as he opened the door just enough for her to squeeze past, away from Simon's inevitable confrontation. She didn't want to deal with him right now; he was starting to chip at her defensive walls, and the cracks were starting to show. She needed to keep her distance from him, if only for her own safety. So, she ran all the way up to her room, throwing her bag at the foot of her bed and began reorganising the clutter that had been left in there by the boys. With all the thoughts running through her head, she was glad to have something menial to busy herself with; it was almost therapeutic in a way. Eventually, she had cleared the majority of the space, leaving just a few boxes in the corner out of the way.
Surveying her work, she flopped onto the bed, momentarily exhausted. Checking the time, she was surprised to see it had gotten quite late. Time flies when you're having fun... She rolled her eyes and sat up, unsure what to do next. A crash from across the hall made her jump and she went to investigate. Opening the door, she saw Simon sprawled on the floor in his room, his chair trapping him between his bed and his desk. She hovered in the doorway for a moment, hand over her mouth as she tried not to laugh. Failing, she choked on her breath and began giggling at his position. 'Well are you gonna help me up then or not?' He tipped his head backwards to see her, glaring at her when she didn't move. 'Come on, you aren't still mad at me for what I said earlier are you?' He tried to push the chair up but it was latched onto something he couldn't reach.
She watched as he attempted to free himself for a minute more before deciding to help him. Walking over, she unhooked the chair from under his desk and lifted it off him before holding out her hand. He stared at it before taking it, pulling himself up. She braced herself slightly for his weight but instead of pulling him up, he yanked on her arm and she lost her footing, landing on top of him. Pain shot through her stomach and she groaned loudly. 'Fuuuck, Simon.' She gasped, trying to roll off him, only to find herself locked in his arms which had wrapped around her the second she landed on his chest. He laughed as she tried to break out of his grip until she finally manage to get her arms free, placing her hands palm down on his chest so she could push herself up.
Looking up at him, she noticed him watching her with a strange expression on his face. 'What-' She started before realising someone was coming up the stairs. 'Simon, please.' She begged him, pushing harder against his chest. 'Hey Simon, I heard a crash are you-' The voice cut off abruptly and Sophie glanced towards the door. There stood Vik, his expression unreadable. 'Nevermind.' He said, sending shivers down her spine as his face hardened. She watched him turn and walk away, his footsteps heavy on the stairs. Wriggling a bit more, she broke free of her temporary prison and stood up. Simon followed suit and grinned at her. 'God, you're insufferable. It's no wonder you never got a fucking girlfriend, you're a fucking bellend.' She shoved past him and stormed back into the hallway.
'Actually no, you're worse than that.' She added, stopping in the doorway and turning back to face him. 'You're a shitty friend. Not the kind that doesn't pay you back after you pay for their coffee for the third time in a row, oh no. You're the kind that doesn't give a shit about your supposed friends' feelings and only considers what you would gain from helping someone; the worst kind.' Her voice shook as she spoke the words, the prick of tears making her blink. 'Don't even bother calling Milly. You don't deserve her.' She finished, turning away, slamming his door behind her. Taking a deep breath, she realised what she'd just said; who she'd said it to. Immediately she felt like apologising but something stopped her. He said some awful things to me as well earlier. Never mind that they were true, he didn't say them nicely and that was the point... She convinced herself that she was in the right and brushed her fingers under her eyes to catch any stray tears, smiling to rid herself of the mood she'd created.
