Vik's POV
He woke up in a bed that wasn't his own, his neck sore from sleeping at an uncomfortable angle. He went to rub it with his hand only, it wouldn't move. Looking down, he saw why. Lying next to him, his arm under her head, was Sophie. Shit, I need to go before she wakes up... He realised. He shifted slightly to gage her consciousness. She didn't make any signs of waking up, so he gently extracted himself from her grip and stood up before heading to the door. Still, she remained asleep and Vik knew she would be out for a while. He left the room and immediately ran into Simon, who gave him a strange look. 'What the...Were you in there all night?' He asked incredulously. Vik made a face at him and nodded. 'She fell asleep on me and I didn't want to wake her up so I guess I must have fallen asleep as well.' He said simply. Simon eyed him warily but didn't say anything. Vik took this as his cue to leave and so made his way back to his own room.
He'd left his phone in his room, so upon checking it, he found it was almost out of charge and there were a multitude of notifications. He flicked through them to see if there was anything important before plugging his charger in and venturing downstairs to the kitchen. There he found Josh, sat at the counter with a bowl of cereal. Vik nodded at him in greeting and he nodded back. Given the absence of questions, Vik realised he didn't know about JJ and Sophie's escapades the night before. He decided not to tell him. The more people who knew, the more embarrassed Sophie would be once she woke up. Instead, he made his own bowl of cereal and sat opposite Josh. They ate in silence for the most part, asking the odd question about how their respective videos were going and such.
Josh left before he did, leaving Vik sat alone in the kitchen, staring at the rest of his cereal. It seemed as though at that moment, he was alone in the house despite everyone being home. Suddenly, he wasn't hungry anymore so he threw away the remainder of his breakfast and returned to his room. There, he slipped back into his schedule of recording and editing, going to bed early morning and waking up late afternoon. His interactions with his house mates becoming less and less frequent. A whole week passed before he found himself back in the same position, eating cereal with Josh in the kitchen. This time however, they didn't speak at all, merely hiding behind their phones. Once he had finished, he was just leaving when Josh stopped him. 'Oh Vik, by the way Tobi and Ethan are coming over today if you wanna grab them for any videos; I know you do that Geoguessr thing sometimes.' Vik nodded in thanks and left.
He spent the next few hours recording for his Minecraft channel. He had just finished his fourth one and was about to start editing them when he heard a knock at the door. 'Yeah?' He said without turning around. The door opened and someone walked in, shutting the door behind them. This flipped a panic switch somewhere in his brain and he looked over to see Tobi stood next to him. 'You and I need to talk man.' He said, his face serious. Vik raised his eyebrows. 'About..?' He asked, oblivious as to what Tobi could possibly need to talk to him about.
'Sophie.'
Her name alone made his stomach flip and he groaned involuntarily. 'What is there to talk about? We don't talk anymore. What's done is done and I'm okay with that.' He didn't believe the words that came out of his mouth, and neither did Tobi judging by the way he threw his hands into the air, exasperated at Vik's unwillingness to converse. 'Vik man, you know that ain't true! You know you like her, so why don't you do something about it? At least talk things over so you guys can be friends again.' Tobi tried to persuade him but at the thought of talking to her again, his mind went into lockdown. 'No. I can't; I won't. She made it clear that she wanted me to back off, so here I am backing off. At least as much as I can manage when we live in the same house.' He sighed, knowing the more he talked about it, the more he would realise he'd been lying to himself the whole time.
