Chapter Thirty Nine

Well...here we go.

"Kelsey!"

Kelsey turned around, Mariposa in her arms. Erik was behind her legs, tears in his eyes as he wondered where Ariel was. Jordyn was sitting in a chair, crying loudly because she had no idea where Melody was. Nel and Alex were held by a nurse, the both of them giggling as they saw their daddies. Tori and Mitch ran over to their children, happy tears in their eyes as they went to get their children.

"Mommy! Dada?" Jordyn asked, getting picked up by her mom. Tori looked back at the Pack, tears in her eyes as she shook her head. "Dada. Where Dada?"

"Jordyn, Daddy might be in Heaven. The doctors are going to see if they could make him stay here longer," Tori replied, looking up to see Alyssa and Kevin in wheelchairs. "Kevin, Alyssa!"

"Mommy and daddy," Erik yelled, running to his parents. Alyssa began to cry, wanting nothing more than to hold her children. "Ariel is sick."

"She is?" Kevin asked, looking back at Alyssa with tears in his eyes. Alyssa was crying too hard, unable to answer. "What's wrong with her?"

"She has an infection and the doctors don't know if it is treatable or not. She's on some fluids right now," Kelsey spoke up, handing Mariposa to Scott. The tall blond fell on his knees, holding onto his baby carefully as he cried. "Scott, the Pioneers are no more. We beat them."

Scott nodded, unable to speak as he hugged Mariposa. Ben and Jessi took Nel and Alex, tears on their cheeks as they walked to stand by Tori. Kelsey frowned, not knowing what was going on.

"What's the matter? Where's Avi?"

"Yeah, where is he?" Kevin asked, getting excited. "I haven't seen him since I got out of the coma!"

"That's why we're here," Ben spoke up, crying silently as he looked at the Pack. Kevin shook his head, tears in his eyes as he sobbed silently. "Esther killed him."

"What the heck?!" Alyssa yelled, tears in her eyes. Erik whimpered a bit, wanting to be held. "Erik, let Daddy hold you. I can't do that right now. Why did she kill him?!"

"She was mad because he didn't talk to her anymore. She killed him because she didn't want to take it anymore."

Kelsey shook her head, her eyes filling up with tears as she hugged Tori. Tori sobbed silently, unable to compose herself. A doctor walked out, a somber look on his face.

"Parents of Ariel Olusola?"

They nodded, looking at the doctor worriedly. He sighed, looking at his papers before looking back at them.

"Ariel has mononucleosis, which is also known as mono. She will heal in about six weeks."

"Oh, thank God," Alyssa sobbed, putting her hand on her chest. She looked up at Kevin, smiling weakly. "All our babies are okay."

"Yes they are," Kevin agreed as another doctor walked up to them. His smile dropped, not liking the look on her face.

Her face is more somber and full of sympathy.

The same exact face doctors have when they can't save their patient.

"Family of Avriel Kaplan?"

"The three of us," Tori spoke up, gesturing towards herself, Jordyn, and her tummy. "Please tell me my husband is okay."

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Kaplan. Avi's brain lacked oxygen. Even if he were to survive, he will be...mentally and physically disabled. He will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and be in physical therapy. He will be unable to take care of himself. I'll give a few minutes to think of it."

"Dadas!"

Melody ran over to her dads, a big smile on her face. Scott sat on a chair, putting his oldest daughter on his lap. Mitch sat by Scott, crying heavily as he thought about Avi.

What did Avi ever do to deserve that?

"What should I do?" Tori whispered, looking at everyone. All the children were asleep, happy to be in their parents' arms again. "I want Haley and Jordyn to be their dad, but he won't be able to hold them. That breaks my heart."

It stayed quiet until Mitch took a deep breath, deciding to speak himself.

"Avi is the happiest one in the Pack. He's the light of our Pack. He's the one that made us happy when we were sad. I know he made me happy when I was sad and I'm pretty sure he did the same for you all. That's was his purpose I feel like, to make people happy; however, I feel like that if he were to stay alive, he would not be happy. He won't be able to make love with you, he won't be able to hold his children, he won't be able to be independent, and he won't to be able to yell about ships.  If he goes to Heaven, he will be able to yell out loud if he ships angels together. He'll be the light up in Heaven."

Tori sobbed, nodding her head as she kissed Jordyn's forehead. Alyssa and Kevin were wheeled away, ready to see Ariel. Kevin looked at Tori, tears in his eyes before the nurse pushed his wheelchair.

"Tell Avi that I love him, please."

Tori nodded as she stood up, not looking back at the Pack. Mitch sniffed a bit, looking up at Scott with tears in his eyes.

"Could we go home? I don't want to see Avi..."

Mitch sobbed, unable to speak. Scott nodded, putting an arm around Mitch's shoulders. Ben and Jessi looked at them sadly as they handed Kelsey the twins. The Omega couple followed Tori, Ben bringing Jessi close to him.

"Let's go, ba-"

"Scott?"

Scott nodded, looking at Mitch nervously. Mitch put his hands on his tummy, looking up at Scott sadly.

"I think I'm pregnant."

Avi passed away peacefully that night at 11:30 P.M.

Alyssa and Kevin names their child Avriel Joshua.

Mitch was torn between having an abortion or not and hoped everyone supported him if he decided to have one.

Scott supported Mitch and made sure that he will beat anyone up who shamed Mitch for choosing that choice.

Tori stayed at the hospital, crying silently as she stayed by Avi's still body and held Jordyn tightly and kept her hand on her tummy, her heart breaking for little Haley Ann.  

Ben and Jessi made love that night. If they have a girl, they want to name her Tori.

The Pack went from eight to seven in over a night and they will try their hardest to stay strong.

For Avi.
