I woke up to find myself inside a machine of some sort. I was looking at a body, a mechanical one that looked a lot like my own. The machine, was a bright white color, with two bright blue antennae on the sides of its head. On top of it was a v shape that was colored in with bright blue paint. The limbs had the same sort of stripes that went all around at more angular vectors. The stomach and chest plating were rugged, built to last. I looked around again and saw two scientists working on the empty unit with me looking on from the machine. One began writing on her notepad, a woman obviously, clad in a lab coat and adorned with a pair of plain square glasses atop her head with her hair in a bun like style. The other, a male with slightly graying hair wearing a lab coat as well, hooked up an apparatus to the back of the boy's head. It looked like a large white pipe.
"Is the personality core ready for upload?" He asked her with a slight monotonous tone.
"Yes. I checked the final calibrations just a moment ago, he's all set. "
"Are you sure about this? Once this is done, things won't be the same."
"Absolutely," She replied setting the clipboard down on a nearby table that had a bunch of tools on it. "I've done enough in my life to know that this is what I want to do. The rest of his kind are mindless drones...and I know that they can be a lot more than that."
"You call them mindless, but they still can think, feel, walk, and talk like us. I wouldn't call that mindless."
"I call them mindless because they just follow orders. They're like slaves. I wanted to make him the first of his kind...an Exo with free will."
"And if they come for him?" He asked.
"Then I will make him run away, forget all of it, or if I have to...surrender him to save his life." She said with a disheartened sigh.
"He will be one of them, their species is growing, all of them have a purpose, and they were built for that purpose, why not give him one?" He asked.
"When I grew up I had a choice of what I wanted to be. I want to give him the same chance. Activate the stabilization matrix." She said to her fellow scientist. He walked over and flicked several switches on a computer.
"Stabilization matrix activated, initializing personality core download."
"This will be different; I can raise him like a child. Make him human." Those were the last words I heard before I woke up in my bed with a jolt. My breathing was going at an increased rate than normal and my brain just kept asking questions. Who were those people? Why did they build me? What did they mean by them? I'm so confused. I thought that as each day passed, I would be less confused, but apparently, I'm wrong. If this dream was an omen for what is to come, then I am more than certainly going to have a hard time understanding any of this. I got out of bed and walked over to the small codded matter unit in the corner and grabbed the armor that was in there. It appeared on the top of the machine and something about it seemed odd. I picked it up and turned it around. Though I had been fighting in the snow and dirt, the armor itself was perfectly clean. I grabbed the rest of the pieces and noticed that they were all in the same condition...pristine. I cocked my head to the right and started to look at it a lot closer. Just a moment later Ghost appears over my shoulder and floats next to me."Is something the matter?" He asked.
"Yeah..we were in combat yesterday...and I could have sworn that I got hit by a few of the weapons that the Fallen had. Yet my armor is clean." I squinted hard at the center mass of the armor which was where I got hit by a few of those blue bolts.
"The armor gets disasembled and reassembled inside of the coded matter storage, it dismantles the armor and puts it back together the way that it was before." Ghost replied.
"Ah, alright," I said slipping on my body glove and slipping my chest armor over my head and slamming my feet into my boots. I bend down and throw the clasps on over the top of them. "I need some fresh air...I need space to think." I thought to myself as I walked outside, and there was that guardian that I saw earlier yesterday. I looked at the time on my internal systems and saw that it was four in the morning. What was she doing out here this early? "Okay...relax. Just talk to her." I gulpped internally before I walked over to the woman who was leaning up against the railing in a pair of sweatpants sneakers and a tank top. She seemed to be lost in reflection on something.
