I walked down to the hangar bay looking over to my ship. I expected Amanda to still be working on it; I had no idea as to how long it had been inside of that chamber back in Russia. It's not like I had a clock of some sort or anything to tell the time for that matter. I glanced around the massive Hangar Bay for a little while and I didn't see her even close to my ship, I looked around, and then I saw her. Just sitting down, having a drink of some sort out of a brown glass bottle.
"Is she ready?" I asked. She took a sip of her beverage then wiped her lips with her left arm.
"She's good for orbital to suborbital travel. But, for you to get to everywhere in the system, you need a jump drive. There aren't many places left on Earth that you can get one, soooo, good hunting." She said then walking over to a command console. I glanced down at the floor for a little while with Cameron right beside me. A little irritated, I walked up to Amanda again.
"Do you have any idea where to start?" I asked. She then put down a stylus of some sort then looked over to me.
"Cosmodrome's is a good place to start, but you might want to get some better gear." She said then pointing at my assault rifle.
"What's wrong with this?" I asked.
"It's old, doesn't pack the punch that the other newer models do. Go talk to Roni; she's got a small booth set up over by my workshop, just up the stairs to my right." She replied. I felt rather shocked by that, my rifle handled so well back in the Cosmodrome! I turned around and looked at Cameron. She chuckled a little bit.
"Yeah man, that stuff may be Golden Age, but it's not nearly as good as the stuff that the City is pumping out." Cameron said taking my rifle off of my back and looking at it with a prying eye. "Yeah, this thing is a literal piece of junk. I'm astonished it fired one bullet off, let alone a whole magazine." She said looking down the sight. "The sight's cracked, the red dot is off by several millimeters, and the firing pin is slightly cracked, had you fired for longer it would have stopped working entirely." She said handing the rifle back over to me. I gently took it from her hand and looked at it. I'll hold onto it for a little while I think.
"Thanks I'll go get a new rifle." I replied. So I then walked up the stairs to see an orange robotic unit operating on some sort of machine. They seemed to be working with the system and trying to fix something, I think. Around the unit's torso was a blue cloth with the symbol that was associated with the Vanguard. I looked around for a moment before looking back at the machine in front of me.
"Excuse me; I'm looking for Roni?" I asked the machine.
"You found her. How can I help you today guardian?" She asked.
"I'm looking for a weapon, I uh...am new around here." I said. She then bent down to pick up a case; she then handed it to me. The box was made out of metal and had the vanguard symbol etched into it. The case clanged heavily when she set it down, and a feeling of excitement encompassed me for a bit. "There's some serious firepower in there." I thought to myeself.
"You're just starting out, so here's just a little something to get you started."
"Thank you," I replied taking the box and walking back down to where Amanda and Cameron were.
"Ok Ghost, you ready?" I asked.
"Ready if you are." He nodded. I looked over at Cameron for a moment.
"So, do you have any ideas?"
Cameron placed her fingers in an L shape on her chin with her right hand and looked up at the ceiling for a moment before she snapped her fingers. "I know just the place, I'll go on ahead and let you know if I find anything." Cameron said before she faded away into a digital cloud. I glared in her direction and my mouth dropped as my mind drew a blank. I turned around and started to walk into my ship. After the walkway that was lowered to the ground was pulled up I got a sense of scale for how large the inside of the ship actually was. I could live in this ship! Comfortably! I thought as my jaw closed into a smile. I walked up toward the cockpit of the ship before seeing a yellow sticky note on the dashboard.
