"You know it's a little rude to not be at your own celebration." I heard a voice state to me.
I turned around. There stood Cassandra. "You're back, did we save the future?" I asked her.
"Funny story about that. I haven't been able to go back yet to see. My ship ran out of fuel, and we are still looking for a fuel source." She replied.
I was sitting out on the hangar bay balcony as the sun started to set over the world that I call home. Cassandra smiled. "You've won a great battle. But you and I both know the war isn't over yet." She stated to me.
"Yeah, but we should take the time to celebrate. It's not every day that a victory is had, especially in a world as dark as this one."
"Here, I want you to have this." She stated to me handing me her rifle. "You're going to need this a lot more than I will." She said honestly.
"No thank you. I appreciate your help. But I think that I'll be okay." I stated looking at my rifle.
Cassandra smiled and looked off into the distance. "I'll see you star side guardian." She said walking off the balcony and teleporting away.
"James. We need to get moving." Ghost stated to me.
I ran up the balcony to see many of the guardians out there I took my seat next to Cameron and Aaron. Then, the speaker came up to the stage holding a box for each of us. He stood in front of a podium with several camera bots flying around him. "When the time of light faded, and darkness enveloped the world we feared that our end had come. The traveler had produced for us many things. Technology, science, but it could not manufacture hope. When the darkness faded away times were still filled with gloom. But now, the heroes that stand before you today, all changed that. A guardian of immense power took his fire team into the heart of Vex territory and destroyed the Black Gardens heart. A god, that fed off the light of the traveler. This fireteam is worthy of the highest honors." The speaker stated holding out three white medals.
They gleamed in the light as he pinned them on each of our chests. "The Lightsmiths Heart was a medal created after the battle of Twilight Gap. To honor those guardians, who sacrificed all in the service of the city. It is the greatest gift a guardian can receive." The Speaker then turned to face the Traveler and raised his hand to meet his brow in a salute. The rest of us followed suit. I couldn't help but put a smile on my face as I looked to see all of us present. From Sidriks to Ikora, we were all saluting our fallen traveler. I could then feel something warm touch my hand. I looked down to see that it was Camerons. I looked at her, and she smiled. I embraced her hand with my own as we all kept saluting the traveler. "I think we're just getting started." I thought to myself.
