3 : Different Way To Look

Averyn's POV

Awkward silence filled the table,all of us trying to avoid each other's gaze. I saw Dania pinched Harry's arm, probably made him realized his words little annoyed both me and Darren. "I'm sorry," Harry muttered under his breath,scratching his thick eyebrows. I tapped my fingers few times on the tables, feeling damn awkward with the silence. "Why did everyone asked us the question? Is it weird seeing a boy and girl being bestfriends?" Darren asked sighly. "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean it," Harry muttered again,his eyes looks guilty. "No. It's okay.We're just wondering," I cleared.

I looked at Helen, hoping an answer but she avoided my gaze,her eyes kept on the table. "It's rare seeing you guys acting like a couple but actually only bestfriends. At the end of the day,one of you will fall in love with another. I've read about it a lot."Helen answered, still not lifting her head. I gave Darren a dirty look, couldn't believe what will happen if Helen's words come true. We shrugged our shoulders,dismissing the stupid imaginations of us being together.

"How can we prove to you guys,to others that we're just friends,with no feelings attached between us? We are sick of the same question. Even our parents wondered," Darren added. "How about both of you give it a try?" Dania suggested. I frowned by her words. "Try what?" She looked nervous, before answering my question. "Swapping you friendship into relationship. For few periods. Maybe a month?" Our eyes looked at her curiously.

"She's right. After a month, you guys can decide which kind of relationship you want to last. One whole month is long enough to make someone fall in love with you. Just like I fall in love with Dania after met her for a week," Harry exclaimed, kissing Dania's upper head after finishing his words. "We knew each other for 2 years now. Nothing happened,right?" Darren elbowed my arm slightly. I pouted, agreeing with his words. "That's because the way you guys look at each other as friends. Not as a boy or a girl," Helen said.

"I saw her as a tomboy." That's the cue for me to smack his head."Shut up, dude." I gave him narrowed eyes. "For a month, try to look at each other from different perspective. Out of the friend's circle," Dania ordered. "As if seeing him sleeping while hugging a giant pink doll, sucking his thumb and drooling?" I teased.Darren looks annoyed with my words. "A month? It's not challenging. How about two months?" Darren asked with a smirk. "No. I prefer 60 days!" I shrieked. "60 days equal to two months, stupid," Darren said,flicking the side of my head. "See? I saw two months in different perspective of days. I made progress, at least." I cleared after realizing my stupidness.
