31 : The Talk

Averyn's POV

I watched from here the way Jennifer flirting with Darren.Seriously right now, jealousy hit me like a truck. But, I had to fake a smile as Darren looked at me. He looked uncomfortable with Jennifer. I tried to look normal when Jennifer played her long fingers on Darren's wet body,tracing his abs. I guess the kiss between them changed her a lot. Because she didn't wear her nerdy glasses, instead a pair of really sexy bikini. Sorry to say but she looked like a slut now.

After few moments holding the urge to drown Jennifer in the beach, she finally walked away with not so excited face while Darren padded on my direction. I pulled out my phone in a jiffy, acting like I got a text to not make it obvious that I was staring at them. "Annoying," he claimed as he sat beside me. I looked up from my phone with a fake frown. "What?" I asked.

"Jennifer thought the kiss will make me fall in love with her. I quoted back that the kiss was nothing. But, she insisted that I'm trying to play hard to get.She even blame you for being my girlfriend. That girl is crazy!" he complained. I scratched the side of my head,didn't know how to react.When he mentioned of the kiss,suddenly my mind played back the previous kiss he gave me.

Actually, I wanted to keep his delicious lips on mine but I was sure he would notice that I'm started falling in love with him.Out of blue, I caught myself staring at his pink lips and the dumbest question slipped out from my mouth. "Which lips are the best? Mine or her?" I cupped my mouth once I realized my mistake and his smirk. "Let me test first." He leaned forward and his face only an inch away from my face. I leaned backward, and he leaned forward until my body met the beach blanket.

My eyes kept on his, not letting him notice my nervousness. He gave a really evil smile and smacked our lips together. The kiss was sweet yet passionate,turned my legs into jelly. While devouring his lips, I couldn't let my hands hold his neck or it will looked like I'm really into him. Damn! I couldn't hold it anymore but I need to! What a torture! After around two minutes, I pulled away to take breath. I giggled as I saw his swollen lips. "How is that?" I teased him although my heart was racing.

He touched his lips, then looked at the sky. "I like Jennifer's lips," he declared. I tried to give him a normal face,but deep down I bursted into tears. He didn't like me. Never like me. Never ever! "But I love yours," he remarked. I gave him a forced sweet smile before standing up. Really not in the mood now so I decided to walk in the beach house.Nathan and Helen were still playing in the beach and they looked as sweet as hell. Lucky for them because the chance for them being a real couple are really high. Darren and I? I'll choose my friendship than losing him after confessing my love. I decided to tell him my true feelings only if he started to spill his heart too. Seriously.

"Did Nathan confess to you about his true feelings?" I asked Helen as we were preparing spaghettie bolognaise. I boiled a pot of water for spaghettie while Helen was preparing for the sauce. She shook her head off in sad motion. "I'm not sure if he likes me too," she pouted. "I guess he is. Maybe he is waiting for the right moment," I reasoned. "Let's hope. Erm,how about you and Darren?" she asked. "We're okay so far.Still acting like a couple. This whole thing will end next week," I shrugged.

"How about your feelings?" she questioned. I gave her a weak smile and turned my focus on cooking. Helen did the same too and after 15 minutes, 4 plates of spaghettie bolognaise already prepared on the dining table. I took out four glasses and poured mineral water in each. "Boys! Down to eat!" I shouted from the entrance of the dining room.Both of them were playing football game in their room after we settled at the beach.

In few moments, Darren and Nathan already sat at the dining table, side by side. I took a sit opposite to Darren while Helen adjacent with me,facing Nathan. We started digging in our foods, talking and mostly bombed Nathan with lots of questions about him. We discovered that he was the last child in his family of 4 siblings, could play piano and quite intelligent with numbers. His parents were quite wealthy and since his older siblings were into science,his dad assumed that Nathan could follow their steps. That was why he need Helen to tutor him for Chemistry. "I didn't have chemistry with it," he chuckled.

When I was doing the dishes after our simple meal, Darren came to the kitchen and sat on the counter beside the sink."Where's Nathan?" I asked as he was staring blankly on the floor. "He went out with Helen to the beach," he answered,looking at me nervous eyes."Did you have anything to talk with me?" I asked him with frown. "After you finish doing your work," he stated. "It'll be faster if you help me," I said.He pouted, looking at me with puppy eyes.

I wiped my wet hands, looking at him with crossed arms."What do you want to talk about?" I asked. "About us," he answered.
