15 : Secret Remain Silence

Averyn's POV

   It has been 17 days Darren and I acted like a couple. I was starting to accept him as my temporary boyfriend, escaping myself from our friend circle. I was still in daze about my real feelings towards him.

   I admit that I didn't feel spark or butterflies when we kissed or cuddled. Maybe because I want a friendship more than a relationship? But lately, he acted weird around me. He rarely kissed my cheeks or pecked my lips as he usually did, or slipped his tough arms around my waist in cafeteria.

   I thought he started to realize that all the actions still made him loving me as a friend. Not more than that. At least, we weren't like typical stories about bestfriends that ended up being a real couple,right? My own version story will end as both of us are happy being bestfriends only with no feelings attached. The two months period? It would shorten, I guess.

   "So, what will we sing?" Darren's voice snapped me from zoning out. Right now, I was in his room as we were practicing for our performance that will be in this Friday's night which was in 5 days. I sat crossed-legs on his bed, while he sat adjacent with me on a chair, his guitar on his lap.

   My eyes wandered around his room, trying to find any song that I thought suitable for the night. If for slow dance, it must be a ballad song, right? But for me, ballad is quite boring and downing the atmosphere with such emotional.

   "I don't know. You will play the guitar so if you don't know the chordes, I guess my idea will be useless," I stated. He nodded his head, plucking some strings randomly. "How about Flashlight? You can, right?" I suggested. "Let's give it a try," he agreed and I started to sit properly. Once he was ready, he plucked the guitar and I started to sing.

   I stopped singing when I've got an incredible idea. "Why not you sing along?" I shrieked. He rolled his eyes, and I pouted. We stared into each other's eyes for few seconds. He sighed and I smiled in victory. I arranged the part when would he sing and when would both of us duet and started practicing.

   After spending 15 minutes making sure everything's perfect,we had loosen a bit by singing Love Yourself by Justin Bieber and Stitches by Shawn Mandes.

   "I guess a month is enough," I said as Darren handed me a glass of water to me. The singing hurt my throat, so we were now in the kitchen. His mom went to his grandparent's home along with Danny.

   "What?" he asked after took a big gulp.

   "The couple things. Two months are too long. We discovered it in a blink of eye."

   "What made you think like that?" he frowned.

   "Don't take it other way but you stopped acting like usual," I cleared, took a sip of my water.

   "Do you mean by kisses and all?" He lifted his left eyebrows. I nodded and he chuckled.

   "I thought you didn't notice it.Wait, are you started to love it?" he teased. I narrowed my eyes and put the glass in the sink. When I was about to walked out from the kitchen, he caged me by putting his hands on the kitchen's counter, at each side.

   "Honestly, did you miss it?" His face closer with mine. I rolled my eyes, scratching my hair. "I'm started getting use by it because it might be the way of you to realize either you love me as a friend or more than that. Now you knew that it doesn't change your feelings, right? So, let's stop this whole crap plan. Let's be bestfriend back."

   "You've got it wrong, babe. I did it because I want you to confirm your own feelings towards me.Either you've got that girly feelings or not. But, it looks like it doesn't work, so I tried to figure out other plans. Plus, I knew my real feelings towards you," he declared.

   "What is that?" I asked anxiously."It's a secret, my sweetie V," he claimed as he kissed my forehead.
