Between Us [COMPLETED]

12 : Working On

Averyn's POV

   This morning, I decided to put on my purple and white stripes shirt -long sleeve as usual- paired with my black jeans. I tied my hair in a messy bun and grabbed things for school, I walked downstairs to have some cereal. My mom would be home this evening so I just took cereals for my breakfast.Silently, I ate my food while my mind replaying last night conversation with Darren.

   I washed my dishes and being interrupted by knock on the door.I guess it was Darren and I was right. He was standing in front of my house, wearing a short sleeve black and white strips shirt with black jeans. I grabbed my backpack and phone that I put on the dining table, ready to locked the front's door when Darren looked at me in disbelief.

   "What?" I asked while putting the key in the hole. After made sure the door locked, I turned around to face Darren. "I thought you'll want to change the clothes because others will think that we are wearing couple shirt," he exclaimed. I gave him a smile."You said that we should be a couple, right? Aren't this is what couple do? Wearing same shirt?" I said with lifted eyebrows. A grin plastered on his face, and he took my hand. "I love it," he chirped.

   We made our way to school, with me hugging his arm. I guessed I should play well in the game too, right? I swore Darren couldn't stop smiling through the way. He probably so happy that I was start fitting myself in the plan.But, to made it clear, I didn't feel a thing when we were like this which was crossed our line as bestfriends.

   As we stepped in the hallway, I made sure I looked down on the floor because I was afraid with others' stares as they saw me and Darren like this. Probably noticed my fear, Darren grabbed my hand,placing his fingers between mine and whispered to me to kept my chin up. I did what he said and I tried to act normally with us hand in hand walking to the locker.

   "See who is it? It's DarRyn," Helen chirped with a smile. Along with her were Dania and Harry who already stood in front of the locker. "Damn, you guys looks cute," Dania shrieked in excitement. I just gave them a nervous smile while Darren rubbed his thumb on my hand."What do you mean by DarRyn,Helen?" Darren asked.

   "It's a ship name of both of you.Darren and Averyn. So, it's DarRyn," she proudly explained. I rolled my eyes and someone approached us. It was Jake, one of the popular boy but not because he was a jerk or bad boy,but he was really active in school's activities. He was such an easy going person and everyone adores him as he always scored in exams even he have lots of things to do.

   "Hi!" he greeted us. All of us gave him a smile, and he quickly cleared his intention to be here."Can I meet you up,Darren?" he asked. Darren nodded his head,and letting go my hand. He gave me a peck on my cheek, muttered that he'll be back. By that, he walked away with Jake and lost in the crowded hallway. "It's like you guys are a real couple," Harry exclaimed. "Come on. You guys asked us to be as a couple,right? We're working on it," I stated.

   "How did you feel? Butterflies in stomach?" I rolled my eyes by Dania's questions. "Nothing. Zero." She pouted and I heard Helen muttered under her breath about breaking heart. I was not sure what she mumbled about because she looked like she murmured to herself. As we changed our topic,the bell rang and we spread to our first class today.
