"So how are we today?" The nurse asked Jalyh.
"I'm fine," she smiled.
"That's good. So let's get started," she said as I helped Jalyh onto the chair.
"So how does it feel to be an uncle?" The nurse asked as he rubbed the gel over Jalyh's stomach. I just shrugged because I really didn't know. Jalyh looked a little uneasy.
"So that's the baby's heartbeat. It's beating a little fast today. Nothing to worry about though. It's almost a pound, growing fast for you to only be nine weeks," she explained.
"The lungs have began forming, so you probably won't make it to your due date," she continued wiping the gel off Jalyh's stomach.
"So the baby is growing irregularly right now. If this doesn't change by your next appointment, you will be admitted into a hospital and they will have to run tests on you," she told Jalyh.
"Okay," Jalyh nodded. She let us go after scheduling Jalyh's next appointment. We got into my car and Jalyh was quiet, very unusual.
"What's wrong with you?"
"So you're just going to act like I'm not old enough to be your dang Aunty?" She asked.
"You're the same age as my cousin Khyla, Jalyh what you tripping off of? My parents don't even care about your age," I shrugged.
"Your dad and stepmom don't. Your mama does not like me," she corrected.
"My mama is naturally bitter. It's nothing against you. My dad said she's been like that since before they got together," I explained.
