This whole place is one bloody long hallway. I swear, the last time I was here, it wasn't so long. That's what she said.
Should I risk a shout? Magrathea might be around here. Or not. Since he fell. How far, I don't know.
I've been seeing a lot of cracks in the hallway. This place is looking more like a castle than a cave right now. Something's wrong. The wall isn't straight, and...oh...
The distortion isn't a trap set by the Catacombs. Neither are the black wolves. Something's happening right now, and Jäger must have done something. No, that's not the whole of it.
Something's been up lately. More and more animals have left the forest lately, and the rivers have been shallow lately. I thought it was just global warming, but this planet has been going through something worse.
First, the streams. They've never been the highest rated streams I've seen, but they've really cut costs lately. Then...then...I'm missing something! Think, think! What seemed amiss lately? What could have caused Jäger to get their act together so well? Something new...
The cables.
The cables! The ones that led us to the Shiet worship grounds! Where are they? Shit, that's an important detail! How'd I miss that, beside the attempted genocide?
Cables. No one in this age has the skill to make modern electrical cables. From another time or place then. But how?
The cracks. Where'd they come from? The Catacombs seem to be especially affected. Why?
So many questions, but so little time. And the biggest one was this:
If the Jäger didn't need the village grounds for the entrance, what did they need it for?
Who screamed?
Shit. Krista!

Deep in the bowels of the Catacombs, in a dark chamber where only a pool of water slept, a beacon of light shone out. A beacon coming from said pool of water. A pool that used to house a crystal of unimaginable origin. But now, it only had a crack in the bottom of it. A crack that led to nowhere.
And it was getting wider.
