"I can sense them."
"Where?"
"Two miles ahead. There's a whole convoy."
"How many?"
"Fifty. All of them can use magic to some extent."
"They're all Jäger? Asura, this isn't like last time."
"Last time we manage to take down a goddess."
"We nearly died."
"Stay behind if you think you can't fight all of them. Soften them up with some bullets while I shove some Rei up their asses."
"They have Krista with them, don't they."
"Yes. They've placed her smack in the centre of formation. They know something we don't about her."
"You said something about her power."
"I know her dad."
"He didn't look like he knew you."
"Long story. I know her dad, and he had some Rei. But his Aspect doesn't match with this. They want to enter the Catacombs. Yap's abilities don't do things like that. I can only assume her mother had something."
"Who's her mother?"
"I didn't save her from a fire yet, I don't know her."
"Is this how you always meet people?"
"Most of the time. Fire seems to follow me everywhere."
"They've stopped."
"Hollow Mountain."
"We're so far from the village so fast?"
"You don't know your strength."
"Where'd they go?"
"What? I can't-oof!"
"Richard!!"
"It's not the time for this, you stupid boar!"
"Asura, his eyes!"
"Blood-red. They got to you, haven't they?"
"Snort."
"Asura, how do we..."
"I don't know. Today is uncharted territory for me."
"Look out!"
A big ball of heaving muscle leaped into a sprint and bowled into Asura, forcing him back, but not to his feet.
"Damn thing gained weight...ugh."
"Asura!! Richard, don't move."
"You can't control him...he's too far gone..."
"Richard. Down."
"Magrathea, get out of the way!"
"Richard. Down."
"Submission doesn't work!"
Richard the Boar charged one more, slamming into the white-haired man that had leapt in front of the boy.
"Aargh..."
"Richard. Down."
Richard the Boar heard a tiny squeak, and saw two beads of golden light emitted from the boy's eyes. Immediately it felt four powerful knees buckle, and Richard the Boar was asleep.
"Oh thank god that worked. Oh god, Asura!!"
