~Harry~
"Ember?" Emily says into her phone. She's quiet as I hear the mumble of someone on the other line. "Where is that at?"
The silence in the car is heavy as Jimmy and I both listen to her.
"Okay. I'm sure." She pauses. "I know. See you then."
I look back at her expectantly. Her face clouded with so many emotions it's hard to tell what she is thinking right now.
"Marcel says they are by the river. He says you might know where, but he will text us directions in a minute."
By the river? Why the hell are they there?
"Uh, okay. Jimmy go down the street and take a left. It should take you to about half way and then it will turn into gravel. I'm not sure to go from there." I shrug and then realize it hurts to even do that. I wince in pain and Emily notices.
"Harry, maybe you had better lie down or something? It will help you." Emily says gesturing to the seat next to her.
"Maybe." I can't help but feel a small smile playing on my lips. Emily smiles back as I crawl to the back before Jimmy starts moving.
"Shit." I mutter and almost fall, but Emily catches me. Surprisingly she is pretty strong and she helps me lay on the seat, my head resting in her lap.
"I'm proud of you Harry." She coos and runs her hands through my hair. It feels nice, unlike all the other times I've tried to have girlfriends. Those times it just felt uncomfortable and meaningless.
"Thanks." Emily has no idea what I have even done. What have I done?
She continues to relax me as Jimmy follows my directions.
"Okay, uh it's at the gravel part now. You want to ask for directions?" Jimmy says from the front. I can feel Emily shift, it seems that she had fallen asleep somewhat, but his voice awakens her. She pulls out her phone and dials Ember's number one hand still stroking my hair.
"Where do we go? We've just gotten onto a gravel path." Emily asks and I hear a murmur come from the phone and she nods.
"Okay." She pauses as Ember talks. "Jimmy go down the gravel path, take the first right that you see. The house is up on the hill you should be able to see it they say."
"Alright." He says and the vehicle is in motion again.
My back hurts so much as I try to sit up.
"No no!" Emily scolds me. "No, sorry not you Harry." I can hear a male voice on the phone now. It must be Marcel.
"No he isn't. He's the one that is hurt." She says and forces me back down into her lap. She draws me closer with her free arm and I let her.
"Be there soon. Bye" She ends the call and returns her full attention to me. "You need to lie down. I'm not sure what is exactly wrong, but sitting up seems to really hurt you."
My heart starts to melt. Her warm and tender feelings for me are showing. She really cares about me. Not just about who I am.
"Guys..." Jimmy calls from the front. "I think we're here."
Emily gasps slightly and I try to sit up to see the house. This time she doesn't push me back down.
The small house sits high on a grassy hill. The expanse of the river and the full moon behind it giving it a creepy yet comforting vibe.
The gravel path that leads up to it isn't big enough for a car. When Jimmy pulls closer I can see a blue car parked slightly off the path. At least we know for sure that they are here.
"Jimmy can you help Harry out?" Emily asks and before I can protest Jimmy has already parked next to the car and is lifting me out of my car.
He stands me on my feet and I wobble, the pain is searing. Emily goes around to my other side and wraps my arm around her shoulders. My other arm is wrapped around Jimmy's as we head up the path.
A movement in the shadows near the house catches all of us of guard and we stop moving.
"It's just me." Marcel's voice says quietly. He moves closer to me and relieves Emily of her duties and points to the house.
"Ember is waiting in the house. You can open the door so we can get him inside." He instructs. At first I want to tell him that I am okay and I can walk by myself, but I don't physically think I am okay.
Emily jogs ahead and reaches the door. Ember leans out and hugs her. She wraps her arms around Emily pulling her into the blanket she has draped over her. I can hear the sounds of relief as they both hold each other.
I found myself suddenly missing the boys and Ed. They had always been my best friends. I would run to them when I needed help. It was strange to think how everything could change so fast and how I could just move away from it all. Of course I would see them again soon, but I never thought that being away from them I would get hurt.
"Jimmy, thanks for letting us use your car. Sorry I was a little rude earlier, it's just well. I think I'm really protective over Ember.." He sighs as we get up to the house, both of the girls faces turn from relief to worry.
"It's okay. I understand. I regret what I did to her, but you understand why I had to.." Marcel nods.
"Harry? What happened?" Ember asks, her voice dripping with concern. She really cares too and she's not even my girlfriend...she's my brothers.
"Can I get to a couch or bed or something first before I tell you all?" I say looking at her and her face turns to pity.
"Okay. I can um make some tea or something. Marcel?" She questions.
"Yea I have some in the cabinets. The kettle is in the cupboard." He nods at her.
"Okay. Come on Emily." Emily gives me one small smile before following Ember into the small house.
"You both are lucky to have women that care so much about you." Jimmy says, a hint of sadness in his voice. "I know I had my chance, but she is better off with you Marcel."
I can tell Marcel doesn't know what to say.
"Well you will find someone someday Jim." He looks at my twin, but it wasn't him who spoke it was me.
"Uhm, yea." He agrees and looks away.
We are almost to what I assume is the bedroom when we hear a crash in the kitchen. Both the girls scream. Marcel's eyes go wide and he looks to me silently asking if he can leave. I nod my head quickly as he mutters a sorry and takes of towards the source of the noise. I can't help but to think if maybe it's Johnny. I know it probably isn't, but are we safe here?
