Alex pov:"Alex. Wake up." My eyes flew open. Cameron was peeking his head in the doorway. "Get ready. We're leaving soon." He said and shut the door. Dim morning light shone in through the window casting an odd gray color to everything. Isabelle was still asleep in my arms. I gently nudged her and woke her up. She looked up at me with sleepy eyes. "It's time." I said. She nodded and slowly got up off of me. I got up as well and we both stretched. The clock said that it was just barely 8 in the morning. I only had about 4 hours of sleep. The exhaustion from not sleeping in almost three days was starting to get to me. My limbs felt heavy and my thoughts were slow. Izzy moved to open the door and I followed her down the stairs. Max and Cameron were talking quietly in the kitchen as max cooked something on the stove.
"Morning" Isabelle said as we walked in. "Hey guys. You hungry?" Max asked. We both nodded. He took the pan off the the stove and dished us two plates of eggs. We sat down and he handed us the scrambled eggs. In truth I always hated eggs but I was hungry enough that it didn't matter. We both devoured our food as Marcus walked into the kitchen. He too got a plate of food and ate. "So when is this all starting?" I asked max as we all ate at the table. "We don't know. As soon as Phoenix starts the hack we'll know and then we'll have five minutes to prepare." He said as he finished his plate and got up to put it in the sink. "Then we should get in position before hand." I told him. Max nodded. "I know. That's why we're leaving in a few minutes." He told everyone at the table. "So what are you and Cameron and Izzy going to do while me and Marcus are up on the Empire State Building?" I asked max. "Me and Cameron are going to every news station and try to warn them when the rockets start raining down. The sooner we get the word out the sooner the military can come and help us." Max said. "And I'm coming with you and Marcus. I'm not letting you out of my sight." Isabelle said to me. "Damnit Izzy, you could get hurt." I said and max nodded in agreement. I opened my mouth to try to convince her but she had other plans. "Don't even say anything. I'm coming with you whether you like it or not." She said in a cold tone. Everyone was just as surprised as I was. No one tried to say anything else. "Good it's settled then. Let's go." She said and walked out the door. I looked to Cameron. He raised his arms. "Don't look at me, she's your girlfriend." He said. We grabbed everything we needed and walked out the door.
Izzy was leaning against the car with her arms across her chest. She looked pissed off. "We're taking your car and I'll drive." Max said to me. Him and Marcus got in the front seats and me Cameron and Izzy got in the back and somehow I ended up squished between them. We drove into the rising sun and into the early morning city. The sun reflected off the tall sky rises made it look much brighter out than it actually was. We crossed over a bridge and into the heart of the city. Looking ahead was the Empire State Building, our target. The sun was rapidly rising as we pulled up, however giant stormclouds were brewing in the distance. We drove around looking for somewhere to park and found a parking garage a block away. As we parked on the second floor and the car shut off the gravity of the situation hit us. We sat in the dark for a moment.
"Alright this is it. I'm not giving a speech or anything because that would imply we'd never see each other again but we will. When all this is done, meet up back here. Got it?" We all nodded and said yes and got out. Cameron and max split off to go to their target and Marcus, Izzy and i went our way to the enormous building. As we emerged from the massive parking garage we were assaulted by the sounds and sights of the city. There were people everywhere but no one was paying attention to us, everyone was focused on where they had to be and why. We walked into the lobby of the massive building. As we walked in we passed through a metal detector but it didn't go off. We knew that there'd be one so we left our guns behind. Although I was surprised that Marcus's backpack carrying his laptop didn't trigger the alarm. We looked around for the elevators. Oddly enough there wasn't a line or anything in fact there were few people in the lobby. Everyone must've already gotten here and where they needed to go. We got in the elevator by ourselves and I pushed the button for the 102nd floor. Cheesy music started playing as the elevator ascended the floors. I looked over at Izzy but she was staring ahead at the doors. She still looked pissed off.
