Alex  pov:

I slowly got up and turned to face her and the guy, Liam. "Thank you for helping me." I said to them. "No problem man. I just have one question. Why are they after you?" He asked me as he crossed his arms. Where to begin? "Because I was their prized experiment. They wanted me back." I told him. "Phoenix?" He asked curiously. I nodded. "My dad works undercover for them. He keeps me off the radar. I'm like you. I have powers too. Well maybe not like you. I've never seen something like this before." He said as he looked me up and down. The girl Liz nudged him. He quickly glanced at her then back at me and Izzy. "Where are my manners? My name is Liam. This is Elizabeth." He said. "I'm Alex and this is Isabelle. We need a place to stay. Can you help us?" I asked him. This was a complete stranger. Who knew if I could actually trust him. I was taking a risk. But me and Izzy needed somewhere safe until max got back to us. The boy stood for a second thinking about it before nodding. "Yeah. We've got a guest room you can stay in. Although I want to hear more of your story, that is if you're up to it." He said. I reluctantly nodded. Liz stepped forward. "While you two or talking I'd like to borrow Isabelle for a second." She said. I turned toward Izzy. She had a blank fear in her eyes but she nodded. I turned back toward Liam and he gestured for me to follow him into the living room.

The living room was huge and in the back it opened to a staircase. In one of the corners sat a piano. "So first off how long do you guys need to stay?" He asked me. "I don't know. We had a place we lived at in San francisco but it was attacked. One of our friends got out as well and we're waiting for him to contact us so it could take days." I said. He nodded. "That's fine. My parents are out of country. They almost always are. It's nice being here alone with loads of cash." He said as he looked out a window. "So what's your power?" He asked me. "I have more than one. Phoenix experimented on me for months. They tortured me. In the end they gave me unbelievable powers. I can move things with my mind but I can also break into others minds if I wish. I can also heal people besides myself. I have some kind of shield around me that no power can break through including my own." I finished.

"So what's the deal with your eyes? When you were attacking mason your eyes turned purple. And why did you attack him?" He asked with a small hint of anger. "My eyes are a product of the experiment. I don't know why they do that but they do. And as for why I attacked mason it's because of Izzy. When she was a kid he" I paused searching for the right words. "He touched her. Assaulted her. She's had nightmares since. I promised her if I ever saw him I'd kill him. He's lucky I was weak." I finished, my tone bitter. "I'm guessing you and her are a thing?" He asked. I nodded. "She's the one that saved me from Phoenix." I said remembering the day she broke me out. The day I begged for death. I shuddered and pushed the memory away. "I can relate. When I first found out about my power I was terrified of myself. Of what I could do. I fell into depression. Then I met Liz. She was the only one who believed me besides my father and she wasn't scared of me." Liam said. I heard the girls voices lightly coming from the kitchen. "Well you took a beating to the head. Luckily Liz's mom's a nurse so she knows how to stitch but a with a blow like that to the head you should rest. The guest room is the first door to the left once you get upstairs." He told me. I was hesitant to ask him if their was a lock. It was if he read my mind. "Oh and yes there's a lock on the door." He added. Isabelle and Elizabeth walked into the room and Izzy took my hand as we walked up the stairs. Liz and Liam's voices quoted as they spoke and me and Izzy left.

The room was large and spacious. There was a large bed against the left wall with a bedside table on each side. On the opposite wall there was a small bathroom. There were no windows so it was dark but my eyes adjusted quickly. I flicked on the light. Izzy walked ahead and sat on the edge of the bed and hung her head. She still hadn't said anything after awhile. "I'm sorry for what I did to mason" I said, remembering her horrified expression when I did the same to Luke. "Don't be. I'm glad he's gone." She whispered back to me. I sat next to her and put my arm on shoulder. "I'm so sorry about everything that's happened." I told her. All of what had happened was a direct result of me. "Alex it's not your fault" she tried saying but I cut her off. "Yes it is. All of this is because of me. If it weren't for me you would never have felt all this pain. That's all I've brought you." I said, tears pricking my eyes. The voice in my head had been right. "Damn it you know that's not fucking true. You're the best thing in my life. I love you. How many times do I have to say it for you to believe it? No matter what happens I always will." She said. I turned toward her to see that tears were running down her cheeks. She opened her mouth to say more but I didn't let her.
