Chapter 11 : raids

Alex pov:

When we opened the door outside of headquarters I saw the sun was almost completely down. We wove our way through the parking lot to the hypersport and got in. As we drove away a thought came across my mind. "Ok, if apex is only focused on the gifted kids how to they have so much money and power? I mean personally I think people would be freaked out about us and not want anything to do with us if they knew" I said. "Well that's not the full story. Phoenix isn't only experimenting on kids it's also a merchant group with multiple crimes against humanity. Max has history with their leader General graymark or whatever. I've never heard the full story but they've been fighting for years. Max wants to reveal him to the part of the government that isn't on phoenixes side." She said. So it wasn't just about us gifteds. It was also a personal vendetta. It made sense. "So how many kids actually fight there?" I asked. "You me Cameron and like 3 others. The rest are just there for protection." She replied. We stayed silent for awhile as the city grew before us and night crawled in. "So where do you want to eat?" I asked Isabelle. "I don't know. I've never been to any restaurant" she said. "Show me where one is and we'll go" I said. As Isabelle directed me to our date location I noticed the car was getting a lot of impressed looks. I was glad. I had a nice ass car and a beautiful girlfriend and tonight nothing else mattered. As we pulled into where Isabelle directed us I saw a group of people outside the restraint turn and look at the car as we parked. "Crap I'm not dressed for a nice place" Isabelle said. She was wearing jeans and a hoodie. I was wearing jeans and a t shirt. "And yet your still beautiful" I said. "Come on let's go" I said as I got out. Isabelle hadn't opened her door yet so I opened it for her. She got out and took my hand as I shut the oddly opened doors.

As we walked in the group of people standing outside watched us in admiration. I pulled out my keys and auto locked it. When we got in we were seated. As we waited for a waitress to give us our menus I couldn't help but stare at the amazing girl in front of me. She was checking the place out so she didn't see me. When she finally looked at me she smiled. "What are you looking at?" She asked playfully. "The best thing that ever happened to me" I replied. Our waitress showed up then and asked what we wanted to drink. I got mtn dew and izzy got water. "So what are you going to get?" I asked. " I don't know I'm thinking about the lemon fish" she said. "What about you?" She asked. "Just steak" I replied. She nodded. "Hey you know what I just realized?" I asked. She shook her head "we don't know each other's last names" I said. She looked surprised. "Mines Edwards after my mom" she said "what's yours?" She asked. "Strider" I said simply. "Ooh scary" she said mockingly. I chuckled. Our waitress came back and took our orders and soon after our food was there. It was delicious. After I was done with my meal izzy said "jeez how can you eat that entire thing?"
"I don't know. But I'm still hungry" I said. She looked astonished. "I'm almost full" she added. Once she had finished. I gave the waitress my cash card for the bill and we made our way hand in hand out of the restaurant. I saw that there was a mini crowd gathered around the hypersport. I unlocked it with the keys and everyone turned around and parted to let us in the car. Izzy seemed a tad bit uncomfortable but I loved it. When we got it I revved the engine a few times before driving off into the night.

I drove just for the hell of it.. Heading nowhere. By the time I stopped the car we were outside the city in by the side of the road. I flipped the car around so we were facing the city. It looked so cool with all the lights standing out against the night sky. I turned the car off. "Don't you have to get up early tomorrow?" Izzy asked. I nodded. "But I want to spend time with you" I replied. She smiled in the dark of the car. "Thank you for tonight" she said. Before I could answer she had leaned over and started kissing me. Her lips parted as she deepened the kiss. She pulled away just to unbuckle her seatbelt and then sat on my lap and started kissing me again. It was a long time time before she pulled away. "Well this is unexpected" I muttered dumbly. "You know I've never felt this way about anyone before." She said gently. "And how do you feel?" I asked playfully. "Happy. In love" she said as her cheeks reddened. "You blush a lot" I said playfully. "Shut up" she said as it got worse. I laughed. "So why on this night have you decided to take this position?" I asked. "Hmmm I like it" she replied with a sneaky kind of smile. We just sat there looking into each other's eyes. I didn't mind at all. I was scared to ask if she was trying to be dirty or not. In truth I hadn't even really thought about it either. "Hey can I ask you something?" I asked nervously. She nodded. "Are you um uh trying to be uh dirty?" I blurted out awkwardly. To my surprise izzy didn't look surprised at all. "Hmm maybe" she said. This time I started the kiss. After awhile she pulled away again this time looking a tad bit sad. "Hey I'm sorry but can we stop it's just well I I don't know if I want this yet" she said. I understood. She must have remembered mason. If I ever saw him I would tear him apart. "It's ok" I said as she got back in her seat. I started driving back to hq. "I love you" she said. "I love you too Isabelle" I replied. When we got back I went to my room and as I had expected izzy followed. "Can I sleep with you again?" She asked. But she looked scared. "Yes of course" I said biting back my dirty joke. "Are you ok?" I asked. She nodded. "I just feel safer around you" she said quietly. "Really?" I asked genuinely surprised. I wouldn't feel safe around me. "And neither does she" a familiar dark voice said. "She's lying" not this not now I thought Ignored the voice. Isabelle started getting into the bed when I interrupted. "Hey i have some shorts you can change into if you want"a I said as I offered them. I hated sleeping in jeans. As she went into the bathroom to change I pulled out my shorts and changed as well. When izzy got out she climbed into bed looking tired. I shut off the light and my night vision flicked on. I climbed in next to her. She was on her side so I wrapped my arms around her and she held onto me. "Goodnight izzy" I said. "Night" she mumbled sleepily. Soon her grip on me loosened and her breathing evened as she fell asleep. I quickly set my alarm for six on my iPod. If only get 7 hours of sleep if I fell asleep soon. I put the iPod on the table shut my eyes as I drifted off.
