Isabelle pov:

Come on hurry up I thought to myself as I heard gunfire outside. The computers were taking forever to purge. Luckily they were programmed to wipe themselves with a push of a button. The gunfire outside started dying down. I prayed Alex was ok. Then the commander came down the ladder. He was drenched. "Stop the purge. The place is safe." The commander shouted. One of the soldiers quickly hit the cancel button on the panel of the computer. "Where is everyone else?" I asked. "It's just us. Alex and me are the only ones left from up there" he said as he reached the bottom of the ladder. Suddenly a deafening boom shook the warehouse and knocked us all over.

The boom was so loud it was like a concussion. My ears were ringing but it was going away fast. "Is everyone ok?" Some one asked. We all groaned yes. "What was that?" Cameron asked. "Lightning. Must've hit the roof" the commander replied. My heart stopped. "Alex" I whispered. Instantly the commander was climbing back up. I was right behind him. We rushed onto the roof. I scanned fro Alex. I found him. Right next to a blackened circle. I rushed over. His left arm was singed and the shoulder armor had a sizzling hole in it. There was blood coming from his ears. His arm was smoking. "He's been struck by lightning" the commander shouted. He leaned over and checked his vitals. I couldn't breathe  "he's still breathing." He said. I fell to my knees. "Evacs almost here. We need to get him to a doctor and fast." Someone said. I just stared at Alex. He was motionless on the ground. I started crying. Soon I heard helicopter rotors. The commander rushed us in and he and Cameron carried Alex in. They laid him gently on the floor. I tried healing him with my powers but his shield stopped me.  "Max have doctors ready. Alex got hit by lightning. We're 15 minutes out" the commander said into his earpiece. He looked over at me and saw I was crying. "Hey he's gonna be ok" he reassured me. I hoped to God he was.

When we got to hq there were doctors with a stretcher on the landing pad. It had stopped raining. The second we landed they rushed Alex off to the infirmary. I rushed to his room and changed quickly then rushed to the infirmary. Cameron was already there with max. "He's in surgery" Cameron whispered. I sat next to him and max in the waiting room. Suddenly I heard alex scream in agony. I stood up and rushed to the door but max stopped me and hugged me. I sobbed into his shoulder. "He's going to be ok izzy" he said and tried to calm me down. But I just cried. Alex was hurt and there was nothing I could do.

Alex pov:

Pain. So much pain. I couldn't feel anything else. Just a constant burning pain and darkness. Then I was on a hard surface. Someone cut my arm open and the pain exploded to ten times worse. I screamed. The pain was too much I couldn't help it. I writhed and screamed. Then someone poked me with something. I couldn't move anymore or scream. But the pain followed me into sleep.

When I woke up everything was blurry. I felt numb all over. I heard voices come in and out of focus. "We did what we could. By some miracle there was no major nerve damage. He'll have full control on his arm. But it will take time to heal." One of the voices said. My arm felt like it was slowly burning from the inside out. "He's sedated but should wake up soon" the voice said again. I couldn't focus my eyesight. I was in a dim room. A fuzzy figure walked to my right side and sat down. I tried to turn my head. I was somewhat successful. I willed my eyes to focus and they did. Izzy was sitting next to me. I was in an infirmary room. My limbs felt like lead and my thoughts were jumbled. I couldn't remember why I was here. "Why am I here?" I mumbled, my voice cutting in and out. "You were struck by lightning" Isabelle whispered. A hazy memory of a rooftop came around and left again. I turned my head to my left. My entire arm from the shoulder to hand was bandaged. My ring finger was singed and bloody. I turned my head back towards izzy. "Why can't I move?" I asked. "It's morphine. To help with the pain" she said. "You were screaming from it" she whispered. She looked like she was going to cry. "I'm ok" I slurred out. I moved my right arm with effort and grabbed her hand. She gripped mine. My arm suddenly felt like it was burning again. I gripped izzy's hand. It dimmed down but it still constantly felt like it was burning. "Does it hurt?" She asked gently. I nodded. "Don't worry" I muttered. "What day is it?" I mumbled. "Christmas" she replied. "Go get my sweater please" I said. "Are you cold?" She asked I shook my head. Although I noticed I didn't have a shirt on. "I'll get it. I'll be right back. I promise" she said and sped off. I rested my head back on the pillow. My arm hurt so bad.
