Okay, so I'm back! With another chapter about House M.D. Because it is honestly one of my favorite shows ever.
(Also, I hope to not sound as shallow as I did in my previous chapter.)
(Okay crap it is nearly 11 on a Saturday as I'm typing this and I'm half asleep. I've started sleeping properly nowadays. No more all night binge watching or staying up late to write fanfiction. I study and I don't forget to eat and I'm in general being a normal person. I'm getting boring...I've only watched one episode on London Spy so far, I'm embarrassed to admit.)
So, back to my topic, House M.D.
In my opinion (Oh my god I always think of Judge Patrice Lessner from The Good Wife when I say that :)) House M.D. is one of the best television shows ever. More than anything, I love the character development. I think, in addition to the brilliant plot, the complexity of each character is what makes up a huge part of what the show is about.
House himself is a character unwavering in his beliefs and opinions for eight seasons, and as much as I love House, I love how all his 'ducklings' changed over the course of the show more.
Chase, Foreman, and Cameron. The original ducklings. I loved Chase and hated Cameron and Foreman. Foreman aspired to be House, but he clearly never became that. He was Cuddy. He was Cuddy's ambition, and I'm of the belief that he could never have become House, even if he hadn't become Dean of Medicine. Cameron is Wilson, and not only because she's on her third marriage by the series finale, but because she is Wilson's niceness, patience, and compassion.
And Chase. Chase is House. Screwed up and faithless in humanity, Chase is House's genius and faithlessness combined, something neither Cameron nor Foreman could have hoped to achieve. Chase is not House at the start of the show. At the start, one would expect Foreman to turn into House, but it is ultimately Chase who becomes House. Somewhere along the way, he lost his faith in humanity.
Killing Dibala, Cameron leaving him, all affected him, and his change was a very gradual change, and only in the very last scene where his name was on the door, did it strike me that he had actually become House. And while I'm on the topic, I absolutely hated Chase/Cameron, the only canon ship involving Chase. I always felt like she expected him to live up this ideal, and the minute he failed to do that, she packed her bags and left.
Thirteen was really cool too. She's one of my favorite characters on House. I absolutely love how House agreed to kill her before she would completely lose herself to Huntington's. Kutner was hilarious. He had the potential to be House. But, um , he died, so we kind of never got to see all that potential. (I'm still not over the fact that Kutner died.) Taub. I never liked Taub, but I never really hated him either. He was interesting, his motivations were interesting. His character arc as a whole was pretty interesting in general.
And then there was Martha M. Masters, who I absolutely loved. She was eccentric and quirky, and I just loved everything about her character. But then Adams and Park. Both of whom I don't hate or like. I totally did not like the episode with the weird slight Chase/Adams part.
Swan Song, the special episode which was part of Season 8, was also hilarious and amazing. It's really really good.
But, my favorite episode by far, is "Three Stories", the beautiful Season 1 episode where House's past is revealed. It was interesting, and gripping and just so beautiful in general.
Also, that House Chase moment where House says "The prodigal son has returned." was absolutely perfect! I really love the father son-ish relationship between House and Chase. That's the only House fanfiction I read. Because House is one of the things I feel was perfect the way it ended, and it's just completely amazing!
So, I'm going to stop here, since at this point my chapter contains almost no fangirling at all this time, and if I continue, I will invariably end up fangirling. Which I don't want. Cause I'm proud of this chapter. Because on this account I'm normally a totally crazy fangirl. Which I am. But not all the time.
Okay so I'm just going to stop now...
