Hunter
Of course I sensed and listened to every single movement that my perfect little mate made. I knew she had tried to clean her wounds, I wish she'd see the doctor but I couldn't force her or she'd just hate me. I heard the sound clothes rustling and a zipper, mostly likely a hoodie of some kind, knowing she's in my clothes and wearing my scent drove my wolf right to his edge. My mate, in my clothes.
"Get a room bro," my friend, and Beta Jeremy joked. I hadn't realize my whole body went rigid and a possessive growl escaped my clenched teeth.
"Jeremy stop," his mate Lena slapped at him. "This is beyond a normal situation, and she's gonna be part of this pack. Be supportive, not a ass."
Even the mighty fall to love I thought. A head strong beta silenced in 10 seconds from his mate. Lena and Jeremy's relationship is what I craved for my own. His position of power, her love and compassion, their unwavering loyalty to each other and this whole pack. Being the pack's Gamma and lead warrior me and my mate would be third on command.
My mates footsteps pulled me from my daydreams, they weren't approaching me as I thought the would. Instead she was now heading down the back stairs, sensing no one was back there I couldn't alert anyone to stop her. I jumped up and began sprinted through the room before I was tripped and found myself staring at the stained hardwood floors.
"Damnit Lena," I growled, I roughly pushed myself back to my feet.
"Don't 'damnit Lena' me," if looks could kill. "That girl is terrified, we don't even know what she's been through, last thing she'll need is a possessive Neanderthal like yourself suffocating her. It's not even clear if she knows about shifters or vampires," she argued and she smugly sat in the chair that she had tripled me from. Lena was a strong minded woman, I'd known her my whole life, but as many times before she was right. Hell I didn't even know my own mates name.
"Then what would you suggest, oh mighty Lena," I added.
"Shift," she all but ordered. She walked away, Jeremy just shaking his head and chuckling at us arguing like we always had since we were kids. With her heading towards my mate, I chose to go with her plan, even if I didn't know what it was.
I stepped into the empty office that I shared with Jeremy and stripped to shift. Immediately pulled to my knees my bones snapped into place, my body transforming into its true self. Warrior wolfs can transform into a small, more normal size, wolf so they can trick opponents. It's a skill few learn much less master. Rouge wolves usually are skilled in it to draw less attention from humans and pack warriors.
Shifted into my modified sized wolf I trotted to Lena who was waiting for me at he back door. My mate was wondering around the area trying to blend in, and move further away from the house. A outsider would assume she was in a neighborhood, but she wasn't. She was in a closed community and stuck out like a rose in a weed garden.
"Trust me on this okay, act like a normal dog," Lena spoke to me through our link. Hating being called a dog I saw in her mind her plan. Lena wasn't a oversized muscular man terrifying her, she was a approachable young woman. As for me dogs are sensitive and easily trusted, lots of victimized people use animals as a coping strategy.
"Let's hope this idea is better than your plan to fix Jeremy's car without him knowing," I teased.
With a glare she took off heading silently towards my mate and hopefully to start to road to connecting with my mate.
Kaylin
Walking from the large house at the end of the road I just stayed on the sidewalk and not look too out of place. I caught a few glances from adults, children seemed too occupied to even know I was there. I would look back every few houses but didn't want to seem sketchy so I tried to just look forward and keep walking until I was free.
