Kaylin
Sitting in the back seat of the oversized black SUV, I was securely attached to Scott's side, no wreck would move me from this location. Two identical SUV's were awaiting us back at the hotel, our transportation to the hearing on the pack lands I had just escaped from hours ago. My days seemed like years now, less than 24 hours ago: I ran from Hunter, found Scott and was bitten by him, and then taken to the hotel where not only did he explain what was going on, we made love. Clips of last night replay in my head, causing me to blush and become aroused again.
"Now is not the time for that my Angel," he whispered in my ear. "When this is over we can go home and continue that train of thought," Scott added as he pressed a kiss atop my head.
"How did you know what I was thinking? Can you read minds now too?" I asked, my tone serious.
"As the bond strengthens so will our connection, soon you'll probably be able to hear mine as well. At first it'll be just strong emotions, like I love you," he chuckled as blush dusted my cheeks again. "Then after some time we can communicate wordlessly."
"ETA is in 10 minutes," Jeremy said in his no nonsense way.
I found suddenly that Jeremy was now comforting presence in my new unexpected life, now that he stopped avoiding me and scowling. I of course felt safe with Scott, he was the armor I wore to protect me from any enemies. Jeremy felt like the shield I would carry to block incoming attacks.
"What exactly is this? I mean from what you said I'm your Soul and you bit me, so what's all this?" I asked. Last night Scott had told me about his world, clearly I want to be with Scott. Hunter is the wrong, and he kidnaps women and claims that I'm his.
"Hunter and his wolf truly believe that you are his mate, clearly I claim you as well. So we can call the Elders and they'll hear us all out and make a ruling," Scott explained as if this was just a pesky formality.
"Can they take me away from you?" I whispered, just saying the words my heart squeezed in a way I thought that could cause me to stop breathing.
"There's no chance of that, this," his fingers trail down my arm to my hand where he intertwined our fingers together. "This is real and no one can deny us that, I'll make sure we stay together. No one is every taking you away from me again," he vowed.
I believed him, I believe that he believed himself. Life never tended to work out how I wanted it to go. In the pit of my stomach, I felt something that wouldn't leave me. Something bad was about to happen, it was like that feeling deep inside of me when I knew Allen was going to prolong my punishment. Hurting someone can take a second, but where was the fun in that? Allen liked to watch me, watch me hurt, watch me wait for a stopping point, that agonizing endless nightmare.
"Kaylin, never again. I promise," Scott vowed again as he heard my thoughts.
"Just feel like something bad is going to happen," I shamefully justified my train of thought. "You never answered my question though, can they take me away from you?" I repeated.
"They can," Jeremy answered after Scott wouldn't answer. Once again he was the only one giving it to me straight. I saw his reflection in the mirror, his face was blank of true emotion, but I noticed his jaw tight and set as if he was on edge too.
"Thank you," I whispered in a small voice.
"That's not going to happen though Kaylin," Scott fought glaring at Jeremy. "We tell the truth, we go home. That's all my angel."
I never got to reply to him, we pulled to a stop in front of a I could only describe as a mansion. I didn't see this place when I first fled from Hunter, this was at least 20 times larger than the house I escaped. The exterior was white, white pillars. windows and balconies decorated the mansion with little pops of individuality. Similar SUV's, and even a limo or two were pulled to the front where Jeremy parked in the line of black tinted cars. Jeremy, Lena, Calvin, and Scott all opened their doors and began to gracefully exit the car. When it came my turn to exit I froze, my throat burned as if acid was about to rise from my stomach.
