Kaylin
"We'll give you some privacy, let you all talk this over. I'll be staying here for a few days so we can talk when you are ready." Ellen spoke cautiously as her and the rest of the council members got up to leave. I heard the door click shut, trapping all the awkwardness into the room. Each of us mindlessly looking at the spot the Elders once sat. I could feel Scott
"Wha-what?" I whispered, finally able to form enough words to make a sentence.
Scott's mouth opened then closed again, his perfectly sculpted brows knit together not much more sure than I on what we should do. His confusion coated the walls of my mind, but his thoughts never thought less of me because of what the Elders told us. He still loved me as he did before we walked into this room. Hunter seemed to be dealing with it a bit different than Scott, a hard look coated his face.
It was the first time I had really looked at him it felt. I knew we was tall but now it all seemed to be in a different light. Hunter seemed to loom over me, his tan skin contrasted more strikingly against his green eyes, those eyes now far away and fighting a war in his mind. He had a rugged 5 o'clock shadow growing in, his blond hair that was longer on top seemed to lose it's life with his souring mood. Now, looking at him broken, it made me want to comfort him. He wasn't a mad man that kidnapped me, he was just a man who had the unfortunate fate of being mixed with mine.
"I'm sorry," I whispered. I couldn't take my eyes off of Hunter as I saw what little composure he had leave him.
Hunter was inhumanely fast as he rose to his feet and burst out the door opposite that the Elders had exited. Nothing I could do but stare after him, Scott pulled my hand back into his trying to comfort me. I felt like I was just this rag doll, I lost my family, then Allen saved me, after that up he pulled me back down with his abuse and anger. Now I had Scott, he pulled me up from the drowning waters of my life, fate was trying to push me back down in the waters where I'd surely drown. I didn't understand what connection I'd have with Hunter but he too lost someone, Sarah was supposed to be here and love him and he got chained to me instead.
"He needs time, we all do. Do you want to go back to the hotel?" Scott softly asked, his voice gentle so I wouldn't break.
"I want to ask her more questions," I confessed. "I feel like I don't even understand what she's already told me. Told us," sighing heavily fully collapsing into Scott's chest.
"Let's go to our room, relax, talk over what we do know and then you can think of the questions you want to ask, and at dinner you can speak to Ellen," Scott offering me a resolution to my chaotic mind. What ever would I do without him?
In agreement we rose in search of Jeremy and Lena so we could all return to the hotel to start sorting out the information out.
Hunter
I shifted without a second thought, my clothes shredded and dancing in the wind behind me. Bevan, my wolf was in control, just as I was, he was torn. With Kaylin behind us in the house, each time my paws dug into the earth was more distance between us. Kaylin was my mate, I wasn't wrong, not that we had even thought it was a possibility, Bevan felt the pull just as I did. Kaylin was one part of our torn heart, all the information the Elders dumped in our unsuspecting laps filled the other half. If she accepted the bond, which I don't know how she would since she can't even feel it, I would have to share her.
She's mine! he roared adding more speed to his run.
Bevan was having a harder time wrapping his mind around that. Shared mates weren't unheard of, twins share a soul and it makes sense that the soul pairs with a single mate. I wasn't a twin, I never ever thought I would have to share a mate, a vampire mate at that. I had no prejudice feelings about the race, as a warrior I looked at the threat one posed instead of what race they were.
