Kaylin

The pack was amazing, everything seemed to flow in this fluid ease that was effortless. I knew it wasn't, it was people like Jeremy, Lena, and Hunter than kept it moving. We toured the pack for hours it seemed, was a few at least since the sun was now resting above the tree line near Hunter's house.

Hunter showed us the larger pack house that held most to the younger single or just mated couples. Couples with kids moved into the houses that the community help build together. It's was very cool, there were different level of houses, smaller ones for couples with less than 3 kids. Then if you had 3 you were moved up into a larger home, we even saw two homes under construction for even larger families. It was a pay if forward system, the younger ones helped build these homes and whomever else volunteered, so one day when they get a home they'll have put in work towards theirs too. It all seemed fair.

We were stopped a few times from younger kids demanding Hunter's attention. Hunter always introduced us, and we were met with friendly responses, but he didn't mention I was his mate. After the third time I began to feel weird that he didn't, but then I was also glad. I was still wrapping my head around everything, so it was nice it was just us meeting as friends. Which is what we were, I had learned a lot about Hunter and Scott while on the tour. Both of them were only children, Hunter's mom was still alive and lived in the pack, she was currently visiting her sister in a different pack though. They both held degrees, Hunter held one, in business which he said helped him learn better ways to help the pack. Scott held a few it seemed. Human sciences, finance, literate, law, and even art. Both were trained in a lot of martial arts, which brought up the topic I'll be trained too. Hunter and Scott found they both shared a love for cars, it was nice to see them bonding too.

"Kaylin," Jeremy gently called for my attention. "Do you want to dine with your aunt and uncle tonight?"

"May I?" I inwardly cringed at my answer but I was just so excited to see them again.

"Of course, I'll let the cooks know," he leaned slightly forward and stopped.

"Are you and Lena coming too?" I asked. "Pleaseeeeee," I begged. His only response was a slight smile and a nod.

"Kaylin," I heard someone call my name as we walked down the hallway, it sounded familiar.

"Yes?" I turned looking around to a empty staircase.

"What's wrong angel?" Scott's hand squeezed my own. I turned to look at the group ahead of me, they all had puzzled looks on their faces.

"Thought I heard someone call my name," I explained and returned to climbing the stairs. No one said anything, but I'm 99% sure Hunter, Lena, and Jeremy did that secret talk thing again. Almost as soon as I had said it Jeremy was down the stairs checking it out. I didn't have long to dwell on it because Hunter had taken my free hand to resume our way to the 2nd floor dinning hall. Because that's a thing.

"Kaylin! Goddess blessing to see you again. I prayed you'd want to come," Ellen's voice filled with emotion.

"We're family," is all I said with a reassuring smile.

"Come, we have lots to discuss. The council had a meeting this afternoon," Joseph addressed us all, while motioning to a ajar door.

"The council? I thought that part was over with," I asked as we enter the dinning hall and began to take seats. Dinner immediately began being served, a soup was placed in front of me.

"I know you're not use to supernatural appetite, we tend to eat a lot. So if you want it may be best to eat a little of each? Or however much you want until you're full? No one would be upset if you didn't eat everything," Hunter dipped his head closer to mine to with the pretense no one else could hear his words. Which I now knew was impossible.
