If Today Was My Last Day

Joe POV

I woke up with machines beeping, going crazy. I ran out to get the doctors. "Help, help. There's something wrong with Rose." I yelled. Doctors and nurses was running in and out of her room. They rolled her out doing CPR, giving her oxygen, and yelling out orders. I called Chief telling him what happened and ask to stay off work today to be with Rose. I was in the waiting room when the doctors from surgery came out and told me the news. "Family of Rose Jones?" The doctor asked. "That's me." I said in Return. "I'm Dr.Chris Huntington Rose surgeon, I'm sorry to tell you this but we did everything we could to get her heart going again, she suffered a heart attack from a blood clot that was formed by the medicines we were giving her for her liver and kidney but we unfortunately was too late to save her. I'm sorry but she's gone. You can go back and see her." The doctor took me back and she was pale and lifeless. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't. I set there and cried.

I shot up really fast. Rose was still there, still alive, still in the medically induced coma. I kissed her hand, before I check the time. It's only 4:48 a.m. the next day.

Sarah POV

I was at Rose house to get her clothes, I was picking out a cute outfit for whenever she wakes up and gets to come home. While I was putting her clothes on top of her dresser this envelope with 'If today was my last day' written on it. I picked it up and opened it. It read

If Today Was My Last Day

If you're reading this then either I'm in the hospital or on my deathbed or I'm gone off this Earth. I want you to deliver this message to everybody at the firehouse: "Thank you for everything. Thank you for always being there and supporting me. If today is or was my last day, I love every one of you, don't forget that. Keep moving on and stay strong." And I want this message delivered to Joe Cruz: "Every second I got to spend with you was or has been amazing. I love you, don't forget that. Don't let me stop you from everything you love. I'm always in your heart, I'm always with you. Please stay strong, I love you forever and always."

I went to the hospital and saw Joe. "Hey Joe how is she?" I asked "Right now good, but they don't know what the next few hours hold for her." He said "I hope she'll be ok." By the time I said that her heart monitor started beeping. Having doctors and nurses running in .

Joe POV

I was talking to Sarah, when all the sudden those monitors went to beeping. No, this can't be happening, no, not Rose, please. I thought. They took her out and up to surgery area. After a few hours later the surgeon came down. I Was preparing for the worst. "Family of Rose Jones?" Me and Sarah stood up. "I'm Chris Huntington Rose surgeon, it was a very close call and we almost lost her, but we fixed the blood clot that formed from her medicines. We decided to take her off the medical induced coma, but it might take 24 to 48 hours for it to wear off.
