Expect The Unexpected

Rose POV

Its been a month since I was encountered and I had that awful dream. I was still paranoid about it and still worried about it. I couldn't show as paranoid at work or I would be getting a lot of questions from everybody. It was work day, another day that I knew was going to be stressful. I felt like today was going to have something bad but good happen. About halfway through the day we got a call.

*Dispatcher
Ambulance 61,Truck 81,squad 3,house fire 881 North Roan St. People possibly still inside.

As we arrive on scene it's a bad fire. I look at Joe as he looks at me. "Be careful" I'll say. He nods at me. Then he heads in . About five minutes later there was a small explosion "CASEY, SEVERIDE, IS EVERYBODY OK!"chief is yelling. No response. As worried as I was, I kept my head in the game. Me and Sylvia was getting everything ready. About a minute later and cheif trying to get a response Casey finally answered " MAYDAY MAYDAY, Severide is down bringing him out now." My heart dropped because Kelly was a best friend of mine. Everyone at 51 was a best friend of mine. I intubated him and Capp was squeezing the air bag for me, I started CPR on him. He wasn't looking good, but I wasn't giving up. He was in a cardiac arrest and by this time we got him to the hospital there was still no heartbeat, they were going to call it, but I wasn't going to give up. I kept doing CPR and they knew I wasn't going to give up so they helped me. We got a heartbeat back about 20 minutes later. I looked at the doctor and said "Never give up early in the game." I walked back to Sylvia giving her the update. Soon after the whole Firehouse was there. Dr. Rhodes came out. And said "Kelly is in stable condition and can go home in a few days. What caused him to go into cardiac arrest was trauma to the head and a blow to the chest. When he woke up we all went and seen him and everybody eventually went home.

*later that night

We were at Molly's and of course me and Joe are sitting at a different table just talking but out of no where Joe ask me question I thought he would never ask.

Joe POV

I've been thinking about asking Rose on a date. So I had the perfect opportunity to ask. Rose, I've been thinking a lot about me and you and I can't imagine what I would do if I ever lost you. What I'm trying to say is Rose, I want you to be my girl and I want to know if you will go on a date with me, Friday? Will you?

Rose POV

I was sitting there shocks, not knowing what to say I finally got the answer out. "Yes, I would be honored to." He smiled and came around the table give me one of his famous hugs that I love, and giving me a soft kiss on the cheek. It was getting late so we decided we need to go home. He was a gentleman for driving me back home. We said our goodbyes. I got in bed all I could think was sometimes you don't know what to expect for the day ahead of you, expect the unexpected.
