Rocky woke up and ran her fingers through her hair. She thought about the letter. "I don't understand. I thought everything was going well." She said to herself as she got up. She pushed the thoughts aside and brushed her teeth. She called in sick and got dressed. "I need a companion." She said as she locked her front door behind her. She got in her car and drove to the closest animal shelter. She walked to the front office and the receptionist looked at her. "Hello." "Hi I'm here to get a pet. I don't exactly know what I want. I'm thinking maybe a cat or a dog." "Let me show you our cats and dogs and we can go from there." The receptionist led her into a room filled with kennels. Cats were on one side and dogs were on the other. "I'll give you a minute to look around. If you find anything or need any help call for me. My name is Gail by the way." Rocky nodded and walked near the cats. Nothing spiked her interest until she stopped in front of a white and orangish pitbull-red heeler mix. The dog was beautiful. She walked back to the receptionist's desk. "Hi again. I was curious about the pitbull-heeler mix." "Oh she's a beautiful dog. Let me see if she's available." Gail turned to the computer and typed something. "Ah yes. She is indeed available, but since she's a rare breed there is a adoption fee." "How much?" "$75" "Ok. I'll take her." Rocky paid the money and soon a young boy walked the dog out to her. She smiled and took the leash. The dog wagged her tail happily as she hopped in the seat next to Rocky. Rocky closed the door behind her and started her car. "You are a beautiful puppy. What shall I name you?" She said petting the dog. She drove to pet smart and brought the dog inside. She bought dog treats, dog toys, a pink bed, a pink kennel,

Everything was pink. She arrived at her apartment and set up a area for the new dog. The dog sniffed the bed and laid down on it. Rocky put the pink dog bowls on the ground and filled one with expensive dog food and the other with water. She decided this dog was going to a spoiled baby at the store. "I think the name,Athena,suits you." She said patting the dog on the head. The dog looked up at her and she smiled. "Finally some one who understands me." She said as the dog laid down next to her. She fell asleep on the couch and Athena dozed off next to her.
