Chapter 15

Rocky woke up and rubbed her eyes . She cleaned up the apartment and put Athena's leash on her. Walking out of her apartment she walked all the way to the other side of town. She stopped when she looked up and saw her work place. Athena trotted next to her and she entered Starbucks. Everyone was staring at her and she couldn't figure out why.
"Hello welcome to Starbucks. How may I take your order?"
"I would like a Pumpkin spice latte and 3 cheese croissants."
"Your total is 15.96."
Rocky handed over the money and walked to the closest table to sit down. She was petting Athena when she felt somebody tap her shoulder. She turned around and saw a blonde haired girl with blue eyes and ridiculously long white nails.
"Um excuse me but you can't have your dog near me." The girl said smacking the gum in her mouth.
"Why not?"
"Cause I don't like it."
"I'm sorry about it."
A boy with a green Starbucks outfit came over and put her coffee and a small bag on her table. She sipped her coffee and ignored the whining girl behind her. She ate 2 of the croissants and gave the last one to Athena. Athena nibbled happily. Rocky pulled out her phone as Athena finished off the croissant. She had 4 notifications for new updates. She opened snapchat and took a picture of Athena.

She laughed and posted the picture. She cleaned up her and Athena's mess and walked out the cold air hitting her face. She walked into a dog boutique and the door jingled.
"Welcome to doggie needs!" A high pitch voice said. Rocky ignored her and walked towards a furry pink jacket. She knew Athena needed one if she wanted her to survive the killer winter. She paid for it and slipped it over Athena ripping the tag off and throwing it away. She was about to walk back outside when she saw a familiar face. It was Carter. She groaned and put her hood over her head,trying not to let him see her she walked the opposite direction.
"Rocky is that you?!"
She put on a fake smile and turned around. She slapped herself mentally when she remembered her last name was in neon letters on the back of her jacket.
"Hi Carter." She said looking him up and down. He looked at Athena with a confused look on his face.
"Are you dog sitting?"
"No. I just got her from the animal shelter today her name is Athena."
"Oh. Uh ok."
"Well if that's it then I got to get going."
"No I uh got some work for you to do. Come in early tomorrow." He walked away and she stood there nodding. Depression hit her hard when she saw the same blonde girl from earlier walk up to Carter, he wrapped his arm around her and they kissed before walking off. Rocky walked to the closest bus stop and the bus drove her home. Running into her apartment she slammed the door behind her letting Athena off her leash she sat in the middle of her bed and cried. Almost seconds later Athena put a comforting paw on her thigh and laid down next to her. She cried into Athena's fur, crying herself to sleep.
