Looking for love

Chapter 23

Carter walked in the Starbucks at sat down next to Rocky.
"Hello Rocky."
"Hi Carter."
"Did you already order?"
"Uh yea."
"I already ate I'm not going to get anything."
"Ok."
A girl with a green Starbucks shirt came over and set a brown paper bag and a coffee down. Rocky sipped at her caffè mocha

and pulled the ham and cheese panini

out of the bag. She nibbled on the panini and gave Athena the grilled cheese.
"I love you Rocky."
"Why do you have a girlfriend than?"
"I don't."
"And I don't care. I think you should move on. I thought you did when you made me buy those stupid earrings for petunia. Just go back to her."
"It wasn't a serious relationship."
"It was still a relationship."
"She meant nothing to me."
"And you mean nothing to me."
Rocky got up and took her food with her she tugged at Athena's leash and walked back towards her office. Carter called after her and turned around. She stared at him anger forming.
"I don't want you in my life! I don't want you near me! I loved you Carter and you broke my heart." She turned around and ran across the street back into her office. Carter stood there in shock and sat down on the bench nearest to him. He ran his fingers through his hair and imagined her yelling at him. There was so much anger and sadness in her eyes, it nearly killed him. He couldn't believe what he had done to her. Rocky ate her food angrily and filled out the rest of her paper work. She headed towards the door to leave and it swung open. In the door way there stood Ranae. She sat down at her desk and Rocky stared at her.
"Where were you?"
"I'm so sorry. My cat ran outside when I left for work this morning. Somebody hit him and I had to bring him to the vet. After that my mom broke her arm so I drove her to the ER. Then my cousin called me and asked me to help plan her wedding so I spent the rest of the day doing that. I am so so sorry."
Rocky looked at her trying to process all of the stuff she said.
"It's fine. I understand that you've had a busy day. I was fixing to leave but now that your here I have some work for you."
Ranae nodded and Rocky gave her some work. She put Athena's leash on her and headed home. She couldn't stand it anymore so she stripped into her underwear. She put on a robe and walked toward her closet. She needed a night out. She pulled out a skanky pink dress and pink high heels and got dressed. She nearly drowned herself in makeup. She set out some water and some dog food for Athena figuring it would be fine if she left her out to test her trust. She arrived at a club 30 minutes later. She got herself some vodka and danced to the loud music. The music seemed to dance with her and she laughed at the thought of this. She took a hit of some random guys blunt and laughed as the drug effects kicked in. Every thing was funny and everybody was funny. She fell to the floor and stared at the ground imagining a trippy sky scraper. She wanted to fall asleep but was yanked off the floor. Panic kicked in as the drugs wore off. She couldn't see the person and she tried to escape their grasp but couldn't. A door leading outside opened and the person let go of her as they pushed her outside. She couldn't feel the ground so she walked along the wall towards her car.
