Looking for love

Chapter 32

Ranae waited for Rocky all day wondering where she could be. Finally she called her when the clock hit 1 a clock.
"Hello?"
"Hey sorry I'm not feeling well today. I know it's a lot but do you mind doing the paperwork on my desk? Just for today?"
"Anything for you. I hope you feel better and I'm sorry you're sick."
"I'm fine just a sore throat. Carter is here taking care of me."
"I have to get back to work but I'm glad you're ok."
"Alright thanks. Bye."
Ranae hung up the phone and got to her paperwork.
Rocky sat in bed all day feeling like absolute shit. Carter was so nice he did every thing she asked him to do. She had Athena cuddled up with her and bear outside playing.
"Carter!"
"Yes?"
"Can you get me some soup?"
"Of course."
She felt bad asking him to do stuff for her but every time she tried to get out of bed he wouldn't let her,so she gave in. He took good care of her even when she wasn't sick and she loved that about him.
~Flashback~
She ran towards her dad's black Chevy. He picked her up and squeezed her arm as he hugged her. A tear fell from her eye and soon she was bawling.
"Daddy, why do you guys always leave? Do you not want to see me?"
"It's the complete opposite. We want to see you as much as we can that's why we leave,so in a couple of years we can retire. And then we will be able to see you all the time!"
"You promise you'll come back?"
"I promise."
She couldn't believe that all of these memories of her dad were coming to her. He was dead. She realized that now. She was in denial before but now she realized it. She cried into her hands and Carter came in with her soup. Seeing her cry, he set the soup now on the bed side table and pulled her into his arms. He wiped away her tears and kissed her on the cheek. He didn't know what happened but he didn't want to push it so he just comforted her.
