Chapter 28

Rocky woke up and looked out the window. The ground was covered in snow and she couldn't decide if she should tell every body to take the day off or let them push through it so they wouldn't have to work the rest of the week. She decided option 2 and got dressed. She put Athena in a jacket with rain boots and left bear alone since his breed is meant for winter. Walking out the door, she grabbed a couple dog treats and toys for Athena and bear. She hopped in her car and closed the door behind Athena. Bear sat next to her with Athena beside him. She turned the radio on and drove slowly to her work trying not to get into a wreck. Finally she arrived and told Ranae to get the dogs some water. She introduced everyone to Bear and let him and Athena off their leashes. They wondered out the door walking beside each other. Rocky did her paper work in silence with Ranae seated beside her. Finally lunch time came and she called in reservations for her,Athena, and Bear. She wanted Ranae to come but she was going to lunch with her boyfriend. Rocky whistled and both dogs came running around the corner. She put the leashes on them and headed towards the restaurant. She sat down and Athena and Bear laid down beside her chair. The waiter came over and questioned the dogs.
"Ma'am whose dogs are these?"
"Mine."
"I'm sorry but you can't have dogs in here."
"Get your manager."
The waiter looked at her worried and rushed over to the kitchen. He came back with a old man with a hunched back.
"Is there a problem?"
"Yes. He won't let me keep Athena and Bear in here."
"What is your name?"
"Rocky white."
"I'm so sorry for your troubles I'll get you your own private room immediately."
The waiter looked up at his manager with confusion. They walked away and she could still hear their conversation.
"Who is she?"
"Rocky.White. CEO OF GED-MA."
"Oh my gosh."
The waiter ran back over to her and showed her to a private room. She looked around. Athena laid down on a couch with Bear seated beside her. Finally the waiter came back and she ordered her food. She checked her phone as she waited.
I know you don't love me
But why?
What changed?
She responded with a 😒. She ate her food and fed some to her beloved pets. She paid for her food and walked out. She let the dogs off their leashes and they walked beside her. She was looking down at her phone when she ran into someone. Bear barked and she looked up. There stood Carter. His black hair was slicked back and he looked hot. She pushed the thoughts from her mind and looked up at him.
"Carter?"
"Rocky I wasn't expecting to see you here."
"I was just headed back to work."
"I see."
Before she could even think she blurted out a "do you want to come over?" Shocked at herself she nervously looked down at her hands. She felt his warm hand on her face and before she knew it she was kissing him. He pushed her against the wall and ran his fingers through her hair. He pulled away and she stared at him with lust in her eyes.
"What time?" His voice interrupted her thoughts and she held up 4 fingers. He nodded and kissed her cheek before disappearing into the crowd. She blushed walking back to her work.
