We have finally arrived at Clark's old home. The unpolluted air and the scent of nature engulfed me. It was refreshing and you could feel the breeze wherever you go

The cab finally stopped, and Clark headed out first, taking our luggage out of the trunk. I examined my surroundings slowly as I got out of the car unhurried. The nervousness never left my body for two days. Especially when I realized yesterday midnight that we would be leaving in a few hours.

I pursed my lips and glanced at Clark who was paying the driver. Then I glanced to the house from afar.

"You'll be fine, Jade." I heard him say.

I remained silent and took my luggage from his hand. I made Clark head on first. We have already reached the porch and he knocked twice after putting the bags down.

"Coming!" An old woman's voice appeared from the other side, shuffles on the floor and the sound of unlocking the lock. She opened the door and her worn eyes lit up at the sight of Clark. "You're back! It's been so long." She gave him a hug and Clark leaned down, chuckling and wrapping his arms around her. I remained silent beside him, the woman still hasn't seen me.

"I know. I miss you," Clark replied.

"I miss you, too, Clark." She patted his back and gave him an overlook, "so, where is she? It's been so long. Almost a year." She peered on his side.

I smiled when we made contact and I saw her arched a brow. "Oh, I thought it would be Lois." My smile faltered slowly. It was not what I was expecting. I was not expecting her name would come out of her mouth. I pursed my lips.

"She's not," Clark said, staring at me apologetically, "I told you on the call that I would be bringing someone, Jade. That's her."

She nodded, "I'm sorry. I'm Martha by the way, Clark's mother."

"I'm Lauren Jade Starly, it's very nice to meet you."

"And you. Come in, the ride here must be tiring." We picked up our bags and Martha led us to the living room. Clark took my bag and started walking upstairs and I stayed on the couch. It's not that long that Clark disappeared, and I must say, it was awkward. When Clark left, Martha went to the kitchen.

He must have seen my discomfort. He sat beside me and he asked quietly, "You okay?"

"It's... I don't know." Honestly, I was a bit hurt to what his mom said.

"I'm sorry about earlier... When she have mistaken you for Lois."

        "They must've been close."

        "Not really."

"Your mom must've adored her for her to be mistaken me for Lois. It's obvious she missed her."

"Well... She's the only other person to talk to other than me since my dad died."

        "I'm sorry."

"It's alright... She'll love you, Jade."

Not that long, Martha yelled from the kitchen, "Anyone needs coffee or tea? Perhaps some snacks?"

"Earl Grey Tea for Jade, mom," Clark answered for me, looking at the entrance of the kitchen.

"Alright. Oh, Clark, come here for a second I have something to show you."

He looked at me, "I'll be right back."

I nodded and he kissed my forehead, then he headed to the kitchen. I was once again left alone. It was not that hard to hear what they were talking about. The walls were just woods and it was quiet except for the sound of glass clacking the wooden table.
