Clark and I were laughing, telling each other's embarrassing stories as I lay on the hospital bed while he sat next to me on the chair.
I laughed as I took a spoon of chocolate ice cream, "Alright. My turn, my turn," I stared at him, smiling brightly. "It's not funny, but a weird one."
"Go ahead," Clark chuckled.
"I... don't know. If it was real or I was just dreaming." I bit my lip.
He nodded.
"Superman visited me last night while you were in the restroom." I held my breath, waiting for his reaction as my mouth twitched to smile. Everything was fuzzy when I woke up. I even tried to look for the paper that I have written but it seems like it vanished.
He said nothing but raised his brows, smirking.
I continued, "Really! I swear. I don't know if I was really dreaming or awake that time. But he flew over here to check on me." It was really surprising to see him up there in the sky, floating. Right in front of you. Of course, I didn't show that to him.
He leaned back to his chair, his mouth also twitching to smile as he looked at me, "What happened?"
"We had a small conversation and asked if I would like to fly with him. I hesitated of course. I said you might come and look for me, then he said to leave a note and I did. Next thing I knew I woke up here without the note on the bed."
"So, you think it's a dream?"
"It could be. I don't know, maybe?" I chuckled, "I mean, come on, Clark. Superman? Checking on me during midnight? It sounds so..."
"So..?" He waited.
I thought about it, eyes squinting at the process. It sounds so... "Weird."
He snorted at that, "Weird?"
A bit too fairytale if you ask me. But it sounds childish, and I was not going to tell him that. There was something else that I could not pinpoint.
"Or a... a..." I shrugged, giving up that I wouldn't be able to tell him what I thought it sounds like. "I don't know! It just seems so impossible! But I told him to come to Daily Planet after Christmas Party so I could give him a gift as my thanks for saving me. Let's see if what I thought a dream was just a dream."
He laughed then he asked, "You going to give him a present?"
"Of course, I will." I took another bite of my ice cream, "That would have been embarrassing if he actually flew there and I didn't even have a gift."
"May I ask what you're going to give him?"
"Nope. That's a secret. But what I would give him would be a lot of effort. I hope he doesn't throw it." I laughed once again. The gift that I would give Superman was the same that I would give to Clark, a small sculpture of Phoenix like mine in the office, however, it's going to be a different design. My present to Clark was almost done and I would start making one for the hero.
He smiled, leaning towards me, "Well, I think he won't be throwing that if it came from you. Superman doesn't get that many gifts."
"How would you know? Don't tell me you're secretly friends with him." I teased.
He laughed and shook his head. "I was just guessing."
"Well, I'm guessing his house is full of gifts from people he saved."
"Alright, fine. But he won't be throwing your gift if he knows that you have put a lot of effort in it."
