Prolog

"I Desiree, relinquish my standing as Leader of the Maplewood Clan. I have chosen my successor, Kelly. She is my second born but since her sister's death she has stepped up to take the role. I am positive she is destined for greatness and will lead the Clan truly and wholeheartedly. Please accept your new leader, Kelly" My mom says as she steps down from the Great Oak. I stand in front of my Clan on the Great Oak. My eyes begin to tear up. Today is the two-year anniversary of Arura's death and everyone is sad.

"I, Kelly, daughter of Desiree, address you as your new Clan Leader. I promise to always hold the benefit of the Clan first, banish only those who need to be banished and bring back the golden years by letting Vampyres and Witches on our land!" I promise to my Clan. 'And to avenge Arura's death' I promise silently to myself. The Clan cheers in agreement "I will now choose my new Beta" I look down at Ivy and Summer standing with their mates "Ivy, she will be your new Beta. She has always helped steer me in the right direction and will continue to do so by helping make the decisions at my side" Ivy climbs up and joins me on the branch.

"Thank you Kelly for your generosity. I will not let you down" She says to me. The Clan cheers as I close the ceremony.

"All Shifters who have Shifted please join us for the Clan hunt!" I call. Ivy and I climb down and lead the hunt with a new energy. But one thing still nags at me.

"Hello Elders. I have something to ask you" I address as I walk into the little wooden cottage.

"What is it dear?" Elder Faith asks.

"I was wondering if I should do something about the death of Arura, since it has been two years and I want to do something special" I say.

"No need dearie" Elder Jewel says.

"Why not I just feel like-" Elder Faith cuts me off.

"You don't have to, she lives" she says. I stumble back like someone hit me. My head starts to hurt.

"But she... I watched....all this time..." I mumble. I sit on the floor "I can't believe it" I say.
