Chapter 23

I tense as someone places their hand on my shoulder. I immediately relax as I recognize the presence of the person behind me and I know I have nothing to fear. I turn my attention back to the bastard sitting in the black iron thrown. The thrown reaches almost to the top of the extremely high ceiling and twists and bends like a tree without leaves and all black. As black as the heart of the person sitting on it.

"You finally made it" Colum greets from his seat. I glare at him. He is appropriately dressed in a red tee-shirt and black slacks. If looks could kill he would be long dead by now. "it's nice to see you too"

"What do you want with means my family?" I ask as I begin to walk slowly down the long red carpet leading to his seat up on the five stairs. The rest of the room looks like a thrown room from the 1800's with large tapestries, red curtains and black and white tile flooring.

"I simply want your powers" he says. The guards that surround the room all take stance and point their old fashioned spears at me as I stop in the middle of the room.

"Why? Why are any of us of use to you? Why bring humans into this?" I yell throwing my fist down in anger.

"I want to rule this world and as soon as I have those powers that you have taken back from me the sooner I can kill you all off and gain control of this world" he explains.

"I knew it. You want your children's powers because you think they should be yours! But you only feel like this because you don't have any!" I yell angrily.

"Your exactly right. I don't have any powers both mine and your dear mothers were taken so you could have an amazing gift and I want my powers back" he yells. He stands up and walks down the five stairs. His black cape flows out behind him and hugs the red carpet under it.

"Seth, kill her" Colum's voice rings out in triumph. He thinks he's won, I'll let him think that.

"No Scarlet!" Summer and I yell. I watch as Seth pulls a knife out of his pocket and holds it to her throat.

"Why are you with him? Why work for him?" I yell at Seth.

"At first it was forced work but I escaped the same way you did. Once you rejected me I came back here and wanted to get revenge for hurting me" he explains.

"I never wanted this, I wanted to love you! The bastard your working for is the one you need to be angry with or Rin and Ivy for telling me to do whatever he said so we could get closer to him" I yell back. I take a few steps closer and both men stiffen.

"Seth leave Arura I want to finish her myself. I want you to kill Kelly" Colum orders. "Once your done capture the little Neko" he says as he walks over to Summer who is standing beside me he places a finger under her chin and lifts it "I want her for my queen"

"I will never be your queen" Summer growls. Colum heaps her face and forces his lips upon hers. Everything happened so fast. I heard a scream and then someone new appeared and then disappeared.

"RIN!" I hear Summer shout and then her footsteps running across the room. I look around and Rin is on the ground with a spear through his chest. Summer pulls his head onto her lap.

"You saved me" I hear a voice from behind me. Ian runs over to Rin and Summer.

"So you could keep her safe. You were right I can't giver her what she needs. I saved you for her now don't make me regret it" Rin says quietly.

"Come on Rin you can get through this, right? Your going to live don't say things like that" Summer says hysterically.

"Summer I can not live forever. It's pierced my heart like a stake, before I go I must say I'm sorry and I love you" Rin says. He hold his hand up to touch her face and as the hand makes contact it turns to ash. The rest of his body follows until there is just a pile of ash and a crying Summer.

"Oh poor you" I hear Colum say. I turn my gaze to him and growl.

"You have killed my best friends beloved" I think about it and smile "good luck surviving" I say smugly. One by one the guards begin to drop I the ground and Summer has disappeared. All of the guards are on the ground and look like dominoes that someone knocked over as the blood from a hole in each of them pours out onto the tile floor staining it as red as the carpet. Summer appears behind Colum and goes to stab him in the chest when something blocks her. Her hand flys back like she hit a wall. I reach my hand out and spread my fingers on the cool breeze surrounding him. I turn to Scarlet.

"Don't touch him" she says. Seth lays beside her crumpled in an awkward position, he's still breathing. All of the silver chains and ropes she was tied up with scatter the ground around her.

"Why not? We all want him dead why can't I do it? You watching him kill my beloved!" Summer screams. Colum looks around nervously. He tries to run but the dome blocks him in.

"Summer she has to do this" I say quietly to her. Scarlet walks down the stairs and right up to the dome of wind Colum is held in. She pushes Summer out of the way and puts her hand through the barrier and pokes his chest.

"You are the reason I am who I am today. I hate everything and I trust no one and I hate myself. You locked me up for almost two years and tortured your own daughter until she was almost dead almost every day. I suffered broken bones and cuts and scars, infection and even rape while you sat back and watched. You are a sadistic bastard and deserve all that I will do to you. I Scarlet, challenge you my father, Colum, to an element duel" she yells. Everyone stairs at her is shock and awe. Colum bows his head and lifts it again with the most horrifying smile I have ever seen.

"I will enjoy killing you for real this time, I accept" he says.
