Unexpected Feelings

Chapter Three

Rin

     Kagome headed back to camp lost in her thoughts. "Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands asked me, a Miko, for help. I never would have thought the emotionless Lord would ever ask for help."

     "Where were you? We were worried sick! We thought a demon captured you!" Shippo asked, bringing her out of her thoughts as he jumped on her shoulder and nuzzled her neck.

After the events that happened she decided to take a nap, as she headed over to her sleeping bag Inuyasha stood in front of her. "We need to talk." He said as he crossed his arms, a determined expression on his face.

     "We have nothing to talk about, get out my way." Kagome replied harshly as she left with Shippo on her shoulder, his worried gaze turning to Inuyasha, giving him a glare.

     Inuyasha got out of her way but started to follow her to her sleeping bag. "Half-breed, you heard me, we have nothing to talk about! So leave me alone!" She yelled at him, her eyes glassy with anger.

     "You've never called me a half-breed before." He said sadly as his ears dropped.

     "Well get used to it, half-breed!" She yelled again, annoyed. She turned away from him.

     "I'm sorry..." He replied as he started walking towards the forest.

     "You're hiding something from me, don't expect that you can hide it for long..." He told her as he leapt to a tree.

     Kagome stood silently. Shippo jumped off her shoulder, knowing she needed space to think.

The rest of the day went by quickly for Kagome after she took her nap, but it didn't help as much she wished. She started to think of all that happened. "He wanted to know why I was crying, he asked me for help, and he takes care of Rin. There has to be a kind side to him. I don't know when I decided this but, I want to be his ally, and his friend..." She thought as she got into her sleeping bag.

After minutes of trying to fall asleep she gave up. "Curses! I'm not sleepy... I guess it's study time! Maybe I can go near where Sesshomaru and I talked... It's decided! I go there." She thought with a small smile.

     As she headed towards the place, she heard a scream, "That's Rins voice!" She thought worriedly as she ran towards the location she heard it come from. "Rin!" She yelled as she ran.

Two bear demons and boar demons had attacked them. She looked at Sesshomaru, who battled a bear demon. The demon had clawed the shoulder to his only good arm.

     Jaken and Ah-Un were occupied with the other bear demon, and the two boar demons were circling Rin. One finally made its move and lunged at Rin. Kagome's breath hitched.
