--Brooke's POV--
I felt someone hitting the side of my face, just below my eye, right on my cheekbone. It was more of a gentle tap. It was quite soothing actually. Then all of a sudden, the taps became harder.
"Whaat?" I groaned.
"I need to go," said Calum quietly from above me. I moved slightly, feeling the familiar dart in my neck from sleeping the wrong way.
"Why does this always happen?" I asked, and was met with Calum's gentle laugh. I got up from the sofa and stretched. "Where is everyone else?"
"They all went home," he answered. He was stretching basically every single muscle in his body - waving his arms in the air, jumping up and down, wiggling his legs. He looked like an idiot and I couldn't help from laughing.
I got changed and we left the apartment hand in hand. The familiar warmth of his hand against mine was so comforting, but it felt like he was holding my hand looser than he normally would have. It was probably because I hadn't been around him in ages so I couldn't really remember what it was like, but it just felt a bit weird.
We reached the car and I drove Calum to the arena he was playing in tonight. I brought the car to a slow halt outside the back of the arena, where the bands entered the arena, and Calum exhaled.
"Guess this is goodbye again," he said. He looked really sad.
"Yeah, but not for long," I said quietly, even though I knew it wasn't true. It was for long - at least 2 months. It would be heart-breaking, but it was worth it. Calum was worth it.
He took my hand which was rested on the gearstick, lifted it to his lips and then set it back on the gearstick.
"I'll try and drop by tonight before we leave," he said softly with a faint smile.
"Okay," I agreed. I leaned forward and kissed him. It all felt very sad, like I was seeing him off to war or something. The atmosphere wasn't one which I was used to in Calum's company.
He rested his hand on my cheek and smiled softly, before getting out of the car. He walked to the entrance of the arena without looking back, and it felt like he had taken a huge chunk of my heart with him and the pang of sadness he left there didn't leave my chest the rest of the day.
