Chapter 42: Fight To Protect

Without warning the Suna and Konoha nin attacked. "Konan, make sure Sakura is safe." Pein said, nodding at Konan as he stepped into the battlefield. Konan nodded and held Sakura's waist tightly. "W-wait! I--!" Sakura was cut off when the two ladies turned into paper.

The two appeared in a clearing a few kilometers from the resort. "Konan." Sakura suddenly said. "I know." Konan said, scanning the area. "Rasengan!" A voice shouted, the two jumped from the attack. They let the smoke disperse and saw Naruto partially transformed and saw 3 tails behind him.

"This isn't good." Konan said, running towards Sakura but jumped back again when Naruto came to attack her. "Konan! Let me fight!" Sakura said, making Konan look at her. "Sakura, I'll only let you fight when I'm about to die." Konan said, smiling at Sakura, making Sakura look at Konan in shock.

Just then, Naruto ran full speed towards Sakura. Konan built a paper wall in front Sakura, preventing Naruto from coming any nearer to Sakura. "Sorry, but I'm your opponent, kyuubi." Konan said, giving Naruto a cold look.

"I'll try to make this short." Konan said, giving Sakura a reassuring smile. Konan took the rose on her head. The rose fell apart. Konan inserted chakra in the petals. The petals went inside Naruto's arms without him knowing. Konan waited for a few seconds, but nothing happened.

"Konan, he absorbed your chakra!" Sakura said, making Konan grit her teeth in annoyance. Konan stood in her place, thinking of what to do next. "Konan! Watch out!" Sakura shouted, snapping Konan off her thoughts. Konan's eyes widened when she saw Naruto lunging at her with Rasengan at hand.

"Konan!" Sakura shouted as the Rasengan hit. Smoke and dust scattered all over the place. Sakura waited for the smoke to disperse. Her eyes widened when she saw the Rasengan hit the ground. She looked around and saw Konan seated behind Tobi. "Konan-senpai, you know you're vulnerable to someone that exceeds Konan-senpai's chakra storage." He bubbly said, stepping towards Naruto.

Naruto, not knowing who Tobi really is, looked into Tobi's eyehole, catching himself in a genjutsu. Naruto shouted in agony as Tobi stared at him, uninterested.

Meanwhile...

Itachi dodged Sasuke's thrusts like it was nothing, earning a scowl from Sasuke. "You're still far too weak, idiotic little brother." Itachi said, jumping a few meters back from Sasuke. Itachi performed handsigns just as Sasuke did. "Great fireball technique." They said at the same time, exchanging fireballs.

Both jumped back to avoid the attack. Itachi took out a kunai just as Sasuke took his katana from its sheath. "Oi, I'm kinda f**king worried." Hidan shouted as he avoided Shikamaru's jutsu. "About what, un?" Deidara asked, sending c2 bombs towards Gaara and Temari.

"The sh**ty Kyuubi." Hidan said, making everyone's eyes widen. "He might've came after Sakura and Konan." Kisame said, pushing Gai away with his Samehada. "Don't worry." Itachi suddenly said, eyes not leaving Sasuke. "Yeah, the over-grown man is with them." Sasori said, summoning the third Kazekage. With that said, an intense battle came forth.

"We will accomplish this mission." Gaara monotonously said, giving Deidara a cold glare. "Sorry, bud. But we're not going to allow that, un." He said, grinning as clay spiders sneaked up on Gaara.  Temari saw the spiders and used her fan to summon a strong wind, causing the spiders to get blown away.

Deidara clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Danna, can you take care of her, un?" He asked, glaring at Temari. "I already am, brat." Sasori said, using the Kazekage's jutsu on Temari. "You're insulting the Sand Village." Temari said, glaring at Sasori as she dodged the continuous attacks. "I know." Sasori said, smiling mockingly.

Temari scowled at him in return. Temari let out a battle cry and sent strong wind that cuts towards Sasori. Sasori dodged along with his puppet.

"You're wasting my time." Sasori said, annoyed as Temari dodged all the attacks of his puppet.

Hidan ran fullspeed towards Shikamaru with his scythe at hand. He avoided Shikamaru's attack but just as he was about to slice him, Kankuro's puppet appeared in front of him, ready to trap him in its body. Kakuzu quickly unleashed his tendrils and wrapped it around Hidan's body, pulling him away. Just in time before he got captured.

Meanwhile...

Sakura stared at Naruto's unmoving body, not believing that Tobi just silenced him with a single glance. Sakura walked towards Konan and Tobi but abruptly stopped when she saw Tobi fall on his knees. Covering his eyes underneath his mask, Tobi shouted in agony. Sakura's eyes widened when she saw blood drip from underneath Tobi's mask. "S-sakura, watch out!" Tobi shouted. Sakura turned her head and saw Naruto running towards her at full speed with Rasenshuriken at hand.
