"So, Hogwarts is a boarding school—" I cut Harry off."Wait. Are you serious?" I Said, my heart skipping a beat with joy.
He nodded.
"Oh my god, I'm actually going to cry," I said grinning. "I never have to come back here again? Please tell me I don't have to, I can't deal with this place anymore."
"Well, you would have to come back for the summer, but if you really don't want to, you can probably stay at our Aunt Petunia's house with me," said Harry.
"I have an aunt?" I asked with excitement.
"Yes, she isn't very nice though. Along with our uncle Vernon and cousin Dudley. They're all pains in the arse if you know what I mean," said Harry.
"Oh god, I'm going to faint," I Said, my joy overflowing.
Why was I so eager to leave, you ask?
Every single person in my foster family, (even Ariel unintentionally), tried their very hardest to make my life hell. Especially Lester, my foster father. He was mentally and physically abusive, for almost no reason. When I heard that I was leaving, I felt as if I was released from prison, and that I would never have to look back.
Sadly, that wasn't the case.
"Yeah, no. I'm sorry, she's not going." Ariel said, looking at me with genuine terror in her eyes.
My stomach churned. Here we go again.
"Ariel, I have to," I said slowly.
"No, you don't, you're not leaving me. I don't care if you have a new brother or not, you're staying with me. Like...have you even thought about me?" Ariel said.
Here we go again.
"Ariel, I can't stay here. There's nothing for me here, and I can't deal with your parents anymore, especially Lester. I just can't. I'm sorry. You're being a bit selfish." I said.
Ariel stood up with tears gathering in her eyes. "I hate you!" She exclaimed, ran into her room, and shut the door.
I didn't even bother going after her. One think about Ariel, her moods would switch like a light. She has some...not so small attachment issues. And sometimes, she liked to smash things.
I heard a few crashes and bangs from inside her room, and Kathleen came rushing into the living room, glaring at me.
"How many times have I told you not to set her off?" She spat. "It's like you do it on purpose, you little—WHAT ON—"
Before I could even realize what was happening, Kathleen was on the floor ducking for cover, as a glass mug went flying at her.
She immediately looked up at me and Harry, as if we were both the scum of the earth. He didn't even LIVE here. Dumbledore also looked at us.
"It wasn't me!" We both exclaimed at the same time. I would know if it was me—there was usually this tugging feeling in my gut, and it usually came with a spout of anger—but I felt relatively calm at that moment.
Before I knew it, all of the glass in the kitchen cabinets began to shatter one by one, until the entire kitchen floor was filled glass shards.
My jaw was on the floor, as was Harry's. Dumbledore didn't even have the slightest bit of concern on his face—as if these sort of occurrences was just a walk in the park on a Tuesday afternoon.
"What. The. Fuck. Was. THAT!" Exclaimed Kathleen. Her face was going as redder than a sunburn from Florida. "You just destroyed all of my shit, you—you little freak spawns! No wonder why your parents had it coming—"
