Monday evening, I created a plan that I hoped would prevent me from getting caught. I didn't know how long it would take to figure out the egg, so I figured that I should go at night since I would be less likely to be interrupted.

Harry lent me the invisibility cloak, and the marauder's map, and agreed to let me out of the common room around 9:30 that night. So when it was time, I went up to my dorm, gathered the map and the egg, threw the cloak over my head, went down into the nearly empty common room, and waited for Harry to let me out.

After a minute, the portrait door swung open, and I walked straight out.

"Good luck," Harry muttered to me as I passed him.

"Thanks," I whispered back before Harry climbed into the room.

I walked down the vacant corridor with the golden egg under one of my arms and held the marauder's map in front of my face with the other. I checked it every minute or so, just to make sure that I didn't run into anyone that would get me into trouble. It was one in the morning after all; I'd be screwed if I were to get caught.

I let out a small groan as the heavy egg strained my arm as I held it. "Almost there, Maya." I thought to myself. "Just get in, get out, get back to the dorms. It's not that difficult."

Finally, after what felt like years, I reached the statue of Boris of Bewildered and found the door that led to the prefect's bathroom. Just had Cedric had told me to, I leaned closer to the statue and whispered "pine fresh." The door creaked open.

I quickly rushed inside and shut the door behind me. I slipped off the invisibility cloak, and set the map and the egg down onto the white marble floor.

"Holy shit," I muttered, looking around the room. The room was made out of marble—the floors, the walls, and even the ceiling, which was complemented by a golden candle filled chandelier. In the very middle of the room, there was a very large swimming pool that was also made of marble, that had about one hundred golden taps around the edges, and a diving board.

Along with this, there were long white curtains that hung at the windows, a pile of fluffy white towels in the corner, and a gold-framed painting of a sleeping mermaid, who's tail fluttered every time she snored. I brought the cloak, the map, and the egg closer to the pool, and began turning on some of the taps. It was so strange because each tap had a different property about the water that came out of it; for example, one of the taps gushed pink and blue bubbles that were the size of soccer balls, and out of another, the tap gushed white foam.

For a little bit, I had a little bit of fun playing with the taps as the pool began to fill. I'd never actually taken a bath before (except for when I was a little kid and I didn't know how to use a shower) so I was having a little too much fun with this. When the bath had finally filled, I stripped off all of my pajamas and my slippers and slid into the water. The pool water was so deep that my feet couldn't touch the ground; If it wasn't for Julian, Michael's brother, teaching me how to swim two years before, I would have bee screwed.

Other than not being able to touch the bottom of the pool, the bath was very soothing, The water was the perfect temperature, and the bubbles against my skin released so much tension in my muscles that I couldn't help but let out a light groan in delight.

"I need to do this more often." I thought, letting out a sigh as I tread the water.

"Snap out of it, Maya," I said aloud, snapping out of my tranquil trance. "Find out what the egg is, get out."

"I talk to myself too, it makes me feel less alone."

I stopped treading and nearly swallowed some of the water in shock. My heart was beating fast, and I turned around to face the ghost of a sad-looking girl that was sitting on one of the taps.
