Two hours after breakfast, I was sitting on my bed eating fudge, when Uncle Vernon called for me.

"Girl!" I heard Uncle Vernon scream from downstairs. I groaned and went downstairs to see Uncle Vernon waiting by the phone.

"There is someone by the name of Cedric Diggory that wants to talk to you. Who is that?" He asked, giving me a look.

My eyes widened and I shook my head at Uncle Vernon. "Hang up." I mouthed.

He gave me a creepy smirk and put the phone back up to his ear. "Yes Diggory, she would be glad to talk to you. Actually, she talked about you for the entire summer, and can't wait to see you again." Said Uncle Vernon. "No!" I hissed.

"Yes, she's right here." Said Uncle Vernon, after a bit of a pause. "Of course you can speak to her."

He handed me the phone while I just stared at him, completely awestruck. He gave me one last look before he scurried away.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hi," Said Cedric.

How'd you get this number?" I asked. "Becca gave it to me, says she got it from your sister." Said Cedric.

"Dammit, Ariel." I thought.

"Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday." Said Cedric. "Thank you," I said shortly. "So, how has your summer been?" Asked Cedric awkwardly.

"It's been alright I guess. You already know from most of the letters and everything." I said. "That's true..." said Cedric with his voice trailing off. "It's really nice to hear your voice again."

I made a face at that comment and bit back a smile, while he paused. "Sorry, that sounded a little demented," said Cedric with a small chuckle. "No, it was kind of cute," I said with a small laugh.

"So um, is what your Uncle said true? About you talking about me the entire summer?" Asked Cedric.

"I–um–I mean...sure." I half-lied. "I usually just talk to Harry sometimes about the dance and some of the letters, and he must have overheard somehow."

"Aww, you really do like me." Said Cedric. "Shut up," I muttered into the phone. "IS THAT MAYA ON THE PHONE?" I heard Becca scream in the background. "Yes..." said Cedric.

"Can I talk to her?" asked Becca. "Please, please, please!"

"Okay." Said Cedric.

There was a small pause, then Becca began to speak into the phone. "Hey, Maya?" She asked.

"What," I said.

"Did you happen to know that this whole entire summer, you have been all that Cedric talks about? Sure there's the World cup occasionally, but mostly you. Especially the slow dance that you two apparently had at the Parkinson's party." said Becca.

"Oh god," I muttered. "Yeah, I know." Said Becca. "But anyway, opinions?"

"I mean, I'm flattered, but it's a little weird having someone like me this much. At the same time, I like weird so there isn't really much of an issue." I said while running my hands through my hair.

"Wait wait wait, hold the phone, did you just confirm that you fancy my brother again?" Asked Becca.

I paused for a second. "Sorta," I answered awkwardly. "He already knows that I'm beginning to like him again if that's your question."

She gasped. "Wait, so you'd date him again? Really?"

"I didn't say that," I said. "I said that I like him. I'm just not really ready to date right now because—why am I explaining my trust issues to a twelve-year-old?"
