"To start, you have to hold a mandrake leaf in their mouth for a full month. As in, you can't take it out to eat or sleep or anything. If it comes out of your mouth or slips down the hatch, you have to start over. Then, at the next visible full moon, you must put their spit-soaked leaf in a phial within range of the moon's pure rays. In addition to the moon's light, the potion needs some other ingredients, including dew that hasn't been exposed to sunlight or human feet for a full seven days. If you manage to get this far into the process, they need to keep their potion hidden and out of sunlight. After that, you have to wait for an electrical storm Strike the Potion.
Every day that you're waiting for the storm, at sunrise and sunset they have to say 'Amato Animo Animato Animagus.' The rest involves preparing to transform, drinking the potion and repeating that incantation." Sirius explained.
Ryan and I stared at him with wide eyes. "And how am I going to get the mandrake leaf and the dew?" I asked.
"You steal it, of course. There's still a Herbology class right?" Ryan and I nodded."Then sneak into the Herbology Classroom," Sirius said.
Ryan and I exchanged looks.
"Don't tell me you've never stolen anything," Sirius said.
"I used to steal food in the middle of the night because my foster family wouldn't feed me," I said.
Sirius gave me a look and there was a flash of fire in his eyes. "They didn't feed you?" Sirius asked.
"Uh no they didn't but let's get back to--" Sirius cut me off sharply.
"They didn't feed you?"
"No," I said taking a step back when I saw the fiery glint in Sirius' eye.
"I'm gonna kill them," Sirius growled.
Ryan's eyes widened as he stumbled back a bit.
"No no no, we don't need you to become an actual murderer. You can't do that." I said.
"Why can't I?" Sirius asked. "They have no right to treat Lily and James child, the girl who survived for god's sake, like an animal."
"They live in America," I said.
"What's the address?" Sirius asked.
"I'm not telling—" he cut me off.
"What is the address?" Sirius asked sharply.
"274 Hickory street. The big apartment building. Buffalo, New York. It's not like you can get there anyway—" he cut me off again.
"Room number?" He asked.
"You can't even get there, how can you even--"
"Room number." He said. "204," I said.
"I can apparate," Sirius said.
"No Sirius no--" by Sirius turning into a dog and running away.
"Shit," I said.
"You do know that he's probably going to apparate when he gets to Hogsmeade right?" Ryan asked.
"Yep," I said. "Well, I hated my foster parents anyway. Let's just hope that they burn in Hell for eternity."
"Were they really that bad?" Ryan asked.
"My foster father was physically and mentally abusive, my foster mum didn't give a crap and my foster sister made my life even more terrible than it was," I said.
"Ariel?" He asked.
I shook my head. "Well yes, she made it more complicated, but I still love her. And I was talking about the other one. Delilah." I said.
"Oh," Ryan said. "What about your family? I haven't heard you talk about them. Ever." I asked.
"Oh um, my mum is in Azkaban." He said.
"What about your dad?" I asked.
"My mum killed him. So I was sent to live with my aunt and uncle. They treat me pretty badly, but oh well. They're the only family I've got." Ryan said.
"Oh, Ryan I'm sorry," I said giving him a hug.
"It's okay. There are just some things that you have to deal with." Ryan said with a light blush forming on his cheeks.
I pulled away from the hug and steadied my crutch.
"We better get back," I said.
He just stared at me.
"Ryan? Ryan." I said.
"Oh um sorry. We should." Ryan said shaking his head.
"Are you okay?" I asked concerned.
"I'm fine. It's just...never mind." Ryan said.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said.
We started to walk back to the castle in silence, and when we were in the middle of a corridor I stopped and looked at him.
"It was obviously something," I said.
"It's just, you're really pretty," Ryan said.
"Hahaha, you're funny. I look disgusting." I said somewhat jokingly.
"No, you don't. You're really beautiful. And so is your personality." Ryan said.
"Ew no. I'm disgusting." I said.
"Prove it," Ryan said.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked.
"Because, you are literally the most beautiful girl in the school in the school, personality wise and appearance," Ryan said.
"What you want to do? Date me?" I asked jokingly.
Ryan didn't say a word.
"Holy shit," I said in realization. "You like me."
"N-no I don't." Ryan stuttered. "Yes, you do! You like me!" I exclaimed quietly.
"Fine. I like you. Do you like me?" He asked.
Thoughts ran through my brain. "He's cute. He has a great personality." I thought.
Then thoughts of Cedric and what he did began to run through my head.
"Ryan, you're a really sweet, but—" he cut me off.
"I know I know, you just like me as a friend and you don't want to like me, I get it," Ryan said.
"That's wasn't what I was going to say," I said.
"Then what were you going to say?" Ryan asked.
"You are an extremely sweet guy, but I'm just not ready. I'm sorry." I said.
"Is that a yes or..." Ryan asked.
"Wait a month or two and we'll see," I smirked.
"What kind of—" he cut himself off. "Why do you do this to me."
