My speed was increasing with every step and everyone had to run to catch up with me. It didn’t worry me at all but it was concerning to know that they had to move fast enough just to keep up with me, I wasn’t that fast. Their shouts finally hit me and I slowed to a halt. “My god Kat, what is up with you?” Eloise asked me sounder rather out of breath. I shrugged, even though I knew why. I sighed silently to myself and looked at my surroundings; it was pretty much empty with the occasional car littering the now empty road. I tried to open the closest car but the doors were locked. I ran over to another car which had an open window. My arm reached inside to reach for the handle but I guess luck wasn’t on my side for the alarm rang out.
“Shit” I yelled and looked at the sheer panic on my friend’s and Alan’s faces. “Shit, shit, shit” I mumbled over and over again. I had just caused us to be in danger and worse than ever, we were defenceless. “What do we do?” I shouted out of sheer panic, I was too concerned for our lives to come up with a reasonable plan. I scanned the crowd looking for the one answer I need to reassure that everything was going to be alright but shrugs just don’t give off the same feeling. I kicked the wheel of the car only making the alarm beep faster and louder. I was now enraged just by the simple noise of warning. “Shut up, we Know” I cried at the car in my view.
The groans of the monsters could be heard, and it was loud. The night was pitch black so we had no idea where they were coming from. “What do we do?” Eloise yelled at me, now I was the master of Zombie apocalypses’ apparently. I stared at her face and nodded to myself. “You have a plan?” she questioned. I smirked and shook my head confidently. “Wow so much help” She uttered sarcastically to Georgina at her side, I gave her a glare before listening to the sounds once more. It was coming from out right and it was fast.
“Run, and fast” I yelled pointing to the opposite way we came. They didn’t question, just ran as fast as their legs could carry them, realising their speed was far greater now than in P.e during school. Lights flashed past our eyes and the groans died out to murmurs. We still didn’t stop until we were met by a large supermarket. I smiled to myself, we had made it to our destination but we were in danger. “Why don’t we go shopping?” I joked pointing to the large building. Everyone gave off a light giggle before heading cautiously to the building.
“Wait, what if there are those- things inside?” Rachel inquired. I looked at her with an empty look and she understood that I really didn’t care.
“Three, two, one” I motioned to the door and we stepped inside. It wasn’t what I expected it to be like. The shelves were stacked with foods, clothes and it seemed to be untouched. My foot stepped over the smashed glass on the floor, and a crunching sound could be heard from my less observant companions. It was suspiciously quiet, it was unnerving so I tried to ignore the fact that we could be walking straight into a trap.
“Are you sure this is safe?” Rachel asked, addressing everyone in the party. I turned to face her and speak but my mouth was covered by a hand and a kitchen knife held to my neck.
