Alan's P.O.V

“Fine but only for tonight god knows what could be out there” the sighs I heard in the background were annoying. I know that rest is something everyone needs but I wasn’t prepared to stop, it wastes too much time.

“Lighten up Alan it’s just for one night” Dylan called, hesitating to place a hand on my shoulder. Why was he being cautious around me? I wasn’t going to bite his head off. I shook my head; if he got killed because of a wandering zombie don’t blame me.

Meg's P.O.V

Time flew by and before I knew it I had scouted the entire shop in search for clothes. I wasn’t much of a girly girl but when the time comes I just can’t help myself, much like gossip. Who doesn’t like a bit of gossip every now and then? I sighed heavily, I was now heaving around a heavy trolley filled with everyone’s wanted clothing. What I loved more was how we didn’t have to pay for it. I wasn’t one for stealing but free stuff, I won’t say no.

“Does anyone smell something burning?” Nicole asked, turning around to follow the smell that was now filling her lungs. I shrugged my shoulders but followed her out I wasn’t prepared to lose her like I did Kat.

“Holy shit!” I yelled at the burning car park that was surrounding the six of us. “What the fuck happened?” I exclaimed, trying my best to back away from the flames that tried to snag at my simple clothing. I turned to Eloise; she was the expert in zombie apocalypse right? I watched her intently but all she did was curse under her breath.

“Well we are so screwed” Georgina screamed in my ear. I held my hand up to my ear, great I’ve probably gone completely deaf now. I thought to myself trying to bright the mood even though it was bright enough with the flames in front difference. What is it with me and jokes in dire situations?

“Is there like a back entrance or something?” Joe suggested. I face palmed, how could I be stupider than Joe? I know I wasn’t bright but really, how could I have not thought of that? “Well done me” he joked, man could this guy’s ego get any bigger without him falling over?

“Joe shut up and run you dick” I shouted at the proud idiotic I was unfortunately stuck with. Why was I stuck with him? Why not Dylan, even though that wouldn’t be any better, at least I would be able to talk to him without wanting to hit him for being an egoistic prick.

“So what’s the plan? We run out the back entrance then where?” Georgina questioned, panting was something that she was doing often, and it’s not every day that you’re running through a burning building whilst trying to stay away from flesh eating creatures.

“I know somewhere where we can go, it shouldn’t be far and it should be safe” Ryan screamed from behind. I didn’t realise he was a slow runner, well I should have known. Ryan isn’t the most athletic person much like Kat.

“Good, wait is it in a town or something?” Eloise questioned rapidly, I turned to face forwards for a second. I halted to a stop, I was lucky I stopped when I did otherwise I would have hit the wall at full speed.

“Not to my knowledge” Oh great, I was stuck with the one person that can’t remember where some place is. “Wait I don’t think so, it’s near a farm with pigs and chickens, much like every other farm” he whispered the last park quietly, he was extremely intelligent but I have never seen him be so stupid in my life and I’ve known him for years.

“How are we supposed to get out? The doors are sealed shut” Joe declared, his hands trying to pry the doors apart.

“Watch out, you will burn yourself if you’re not careful and if you do burn yourself you are basically useless” I really could not care less about his well-being but I was thinking of everyone else’s and my own. Call me what you want but I don’t care; I wanted to get out of this alive.

“Since when did you care?” He teased. Wait was he flirting with me? I shook the thought from my head; some people never change do they.

“Never, now stop flirting and open the fucking door” I screamed in his ear this was never going to go well. I swear I saw him blush but for all I know is that, that could just be the light from the fire forever grow towards us. “Now would be a great time to get that door open” I yelled, backing up towards the boiling hot metal walls surrounding us. If I didn’t escape soon I would roast before I am even touched by the flames that danced in sync to the beating of my heart that felt like it was in my throat.

“I can’t it’s stuck” Joe yelled, great I was going to die!
